I had a thought today.... the President will bring all past military personnel back into the service. I cannot remember the term but I'm sure someone will pop it into this thread. How that would motivate a few retirees to wanna return. That would backfill any recruitment shortages and reduce the strain on rhe current forces. Not too many illegals would slip through the cracks because Trump might authorize a bounty on each person captured and tossed out of the country.
I didn't clarify my remark too well. Sorry. What I meant to get across is that if an illegal was rounded up by a military dude or say a guy who was authorized to capture the illegals, then there might be incentive (cash reward) for each illegal taken to the border for exfil from this country. I didn't mean it as a bounty for each scalp turned over to the border patrol. Sorry, my bad.
Bringing retirees is different than bringing back people unjustly discharged. It is more involved to change their status, benefits, possibly rank. It is easier to bring back officers though.
Also it wouldn't backfill the recruiting gap either. Right now it might help cover the missing numbers but the people that would come back are mostly higher rank - not O-1 or E-1s. There would be a big hole still (Thanks Biden). It will take years to recover and get the numbers back to where they belong.
The military needs certain numbers of lower, middle, and senior ranking enlisted and officers. Biden cut the lower and much of the middle tiers with the stupid mandates, and by scaring (very smart) parents with his stupid policies and performance. I would never sign the papers for my kids if they were still at the age of recruitment if Biden was there - or most Democrats for that matter. I served during the last year of Reagan, through HW Bush, and most of Clinton. The differences were MASSIVE. During Clinton we lost a lot of our military - just like every dem since at least Carter.
You could get 50% of the non violent criminals, gang members and cartel mules to self deport by simply restricting Western Unions service to Mexico. Many of these people come here to work and send the income home. With the difference in economic realities between here and Mexico they can return and live like kings on what a typical non union tradesmen makes.

If it's authorized by the the president it wouldnt be vigilantism. A vigilante acts outside the law.
