There's a long history of that tOtALLy NoN-pOLiTiCaL "church" using confessionals to blackmail, spy on and extort world leaders, and likely businessmen, criminals, journalists and regular people who ruffle their feathers....

Upper-right photo, why is there an inverted cross behind the pope?
They use it in reference to Peter who wanted to be crucified upside down because he didn't think he was worthy enough to die rightside up like Christ did. If there's a double meaning it wouldn't surprise me though.
Ah well... that makes sense, although the inverted cross is also a Satanic symbol. OK, I guess I'll let that one slide.

The church believes there are two sources of revelation; inspired scripture and church tradition. So if enough people over time in church hierarchy believed something it's considered to be on par with Bible
