I saw this story about the county board of supervisors trying to pass "wordsmith documents" to not help ICE. I'm glad my Sheriff will not comply with the board of supervisors.
Can the board still get in the way? I hope so and hope they do because....handcuffs.
She can't arrest them they are breaking federal law. But she can help the feds round up illegals and facilitate the marshals service in arresting the politicians.
She will follow California State Law as follows and not the board of supervisors which have no authority over the sheriff.
“As Sheriff, I will continue to follow state law. I believe it is crucial for every member of our region to live with dignity, security and the opportunity to thrive,” she continued while the office made clear that the law allowed for the sharing of “release dates for individuals who are in Sheriff’s custody only if they have qualifying convictions for specific serious, violent, or sex crimes,” and the law gave “authority for law enforcement to cooperate with immigration authorities as prescribed.”
“This includes the ability to provide information on individuals who have certain convictions which include but are not limited to sexual abuse, child abuse, battery, assault, possession, sale, distribution, manufacture or trafficking of controlled substances,” the sheriff’s office detailed.
So she will only cooperate with the above types of criminals, not all law breakers, which would be every illegal alien.
Good for her for standing up to the board of supervisors but she will still harbor illegals who have not committed violent, sexual, or drug-related crimes.
Not likely. Sheriffs are one of the most powerful local positions there is. There are lots of protections for them.
More likely the board gets arrested than her.
I have to admit, I'm more excited see traitors arrested than illegals deported.
