I just got a notification on my phone to update the operating system to Android 15. It includes a feature to allow the phone to send and receive texts over satellite when cell towers aren't available.
Do you think this has anything to do with Big Voice or the EAS? Supposedly, Musk and SpaceX have a hand in this.
Also, is it a good thing or a bad thing to allow satellites to access my phone? I can't help but think about the Israeli exploding pagers.
Exploding pagers and phones were specifically built with explosives added to the batteries at manufacturing. There is zero concern that normal phones or pagers could explode.
OK right. I know there are a bunch of handless, legless, dead guys who had 0 concern.
they all bought modified pagers from the same source.
pagers don't need much hardware, so there is a lot of room inside for explosives.
makes perfect sense to take people out with modified pagers. makes zero sense to assume the same system is in every phone.
NGL,I have serious concerns about explosives inside baofeng radios now...... because commies
What if all electronics secretly have built in kill switches? Hmm?
Do you know what's weird, older phones have high electromagnetic radiation. But I held up a meter to my wife's new iphone and it was waaay high and there is no need for these devices to emit so much radiation.
See? 👀
there isn't enough room for the required amount of explosive. it's just not a reasonable assumption.
Seems to me like it was collateral damage from the shrapnel. Lots of small, sharp, easily separatable pieces. In a man's pocket, wouldn't need much to toast the jewels and maybe take.out the person in possession of the electronic device....I've probably watched too many movies. 🤣🤣🤣
They have secret gonad killers brought about by long term emf emissions. By design.
It's even worse with radioactive material leaking...
Yeah, I have zero concern about "explosives in my phone"... but I do wonder if when a text is sent via satellite, does it incur extra charges on my phone bill?
The cost is built into the previous hidden charges you're already paying for.
Maybe has something to do with Starlink...
I know recently they added the ability for you to use your cell phone with it without jumping through a bunch of hoops/convolutions...
THIS
Is this new "feature" disable-able? I'm not sure I want to be talking to satellites. I live in the woods to get away from this crap.
Do you think this has anything to do with the EAS broadcast system or communications during 10 days darnkess?
Can't wait for that darnkess. When the swamp is cleaned out, then we will have a new nation.
You have GPS through Google maps. This is the EBS through the T-Mobile cell network.
If it’s an option, you can opt in and to opt out of, I don’t see the problem.
Also… living on Kauai part-time not having service is a huge problem. Especially if you’re hiking or on specific parts of the island, your phone doesn’t work at all. This affects directions, text messages, Internet, etc.. all of it.
If I was going to be living on the island full-time, I was going to purchase one of these $150 units that allows your phone to hook up to it so that you can send text messages, no matter where you’re at, and it has an emergency locating device if you get lost, fall down a cliff, or just have an urgent health condition and need help immediately. Those devices come with a $10 a month plan or something like that.
However; since I found out that Starlink was going to be offering that type of a service, and I believe it’s free, then I wouldn’t need to purchase that safety device. I guess one of the best parts of the emergency device is that if you have a real emergency, there’s a GPS tracker on it. But I guess your phone is technically a GPS tracker as well?
I believe these other types of devices would be advantageous if you regularly camp, hike, and go on adventures where phones don’t work. But, if you live in the city and you’re not going places where your phone doesn’t work, then I don’t think you need the satellite support. I guess it’s a personal choice.
Also, on a sidenote… I’m not sure if android 15 is a new phone or not, but I’m going to say maybe some of the phones that are older don’t have the capability to hook up to satellite. Or maybe it’s just an upgrade like you said. I have an upgrade on my iPhone and I’ve been delaying doing it, but perhaps that option might be available to me now so maybe I should check it out because I’m going back to Hawaii in the month.
