A friend has a house near the LA airport. They had Safeco insurance. Earlier last year, during renewal time, they sent a letter to him claiming he needed a new roof or they would cancel. A call to them and they claimed that they flew a drone over the house (I kid you not) and saw "mold". Anyway, the roof was only 8 years old on a 20 year roof. They cancelled. He had to scramble to find, not as good, insurance from some smaller company. BTW near the beach everything has mold on it. We cancelled all our Safeco policies.
The same thing happened to my neighbour last year ,he got a letter from Nation Wide is not on your side with a photo of his roof with dirty lines and said he needed to replace it ,he called them and told them the roof was only 15 yrs old with 30 yr shingles and he ended up cancelling and went with State Farm, my other neighbour got a letter from his insurance with photos from drones and said he needed to remove fire wood up against his barn and had all his grading equipment backhoes/tractors/bulldozers/skid steers/dump truck circled in red and wanted to know the running statues of each, im not joking.
