Just look around. Here, they've planned it for a couple of decades. EVERYTHING you may need is within 15 min walking distance in most areas in this city and it's now accelerating with stacking thousands of "luxury" compact apartments on 20 acres each, with very little parking, all surrounding open-air "shopping malls".
Also, if anyone here isn't already familiar with Waymo self-driving cars, check them out. If you see a Waymo in your area, pretty likely your town is on the Smart City target list. Waymo's are prevalent in LA and San Fran, both cities suffering recent disasters and likely targets.
Also on the Smart Cities list: New Orleans, Vegas, and several in NC.
Noticing the trend yet? Those cities/states have been suffering disasters.
So I briefly looked at that website. It didn't seem like the 15 minute cities we've heard about, but it was very vague. There are 3 in louisiana: new orleans, shreveport and baton rouge. All of those cities are the blue cities in the state. Everything else is red. So it just seems like something blue regions are signing up on, for you know, climate change virtue signaling, and the promise of some of those federal funds.
Also interesting is I'm seeing a pattern of CA fires following a similar alignment of the planned California High Speed Rail system. When I worked on that project it was behind on Row (right of way) permits and land acquisition. Kern County farmer's did not want to sell and the Authority was beginning to use Imminent Domain. The rail was to be operational by 2025, now they say 2030.
It'll be much easier to acquire and build on burned out land.
is there a list of all smart cities being planned in the near future? might be helpful to have on hand, just in case.

That’s a good idea. I wonder if cities like Philly and NYC are in the crosshairs just because they’ve gone down hill so quickly.

Nope, they will embrace it.
