Great podcast from Valuetainment that explains just some of the hurdles that will need to be overcome BEFORE your rebuild even starts. Rebuilding of county electrical infrastructure. Insurance. Supply chains. Removal of debris. If you have a mortgage - you are probably one of the lucky ones.

Guess my wife and I will have to prepare for James Woods living with us for 3 years.. 8)
It's a joke..but he would be a very welcome house guest.
California democRats will get to work on rebuilding the homes just as soon as the Hyper Loop rail is finished, in 2 more weeks.
Lahaina 2.0! Normal waiting time on the big island for obtaining a building permit for a single family structure is nine months after submission. I am sure there is a back log in LA. Thank God that PDJT will soon be back in office. If there has ever been a government capable of really helping this may be our first ever.
Only 3?
I'd start rebuilding my own house. Live in an RV in the driveway and have the materials delivered on the day it's needed. As for clearing the property, put all the metal in a bin and have it voted off and all burnable materials goes into a nice fire pit for roasting hot dogs. Schedule the inspectors and keep a good friendly relationship with them. Permits should go quickly if you are the first in line.
They won’t even get the Permitting and clean-up by then.
Vote for stupid criminal morons win criminal moron prizes. enjoy people of Los Angeles you made this bed now sleep in it.
I built a house in Agua Dulce CA in the County of LA in 2003. It took 2 years. Architecture-6 months, Permits 6- months, construction 1 year.
I think the permit process in LA Building and Safety is considerably longer.
Doesn’t the gov automatically grab that land when they deem it toxic and unlivable? They do it all over the place, makes sense they would. Bass kept saying,’”WE WE WE will build back better…” like she owned it. They’ll sneak it in. Gavin newsom ordered no new construction allowed. They’ll not stop, they’ll deceive. Started with insurance…here they go. Watch their words.
3 years is optimistic. Zoning has been changed, in many if not all areas, from single family to multi family homes. That would affect property value and taxes owed. Between that and dropping many people’s insurance before the fire, many won’t be able to rebuild.
And without insurance money exactly how is it they will purchase said new home?
