It wasn’t always that way, last 20 years or so. Cost cutting (read; cheaper employment costs). There’s hundreds of food products made in Canada by American companies… it’s gross.
Next, I hope Trump tariffs the shit out of runaway Hollywood production (my industry). Canada also incentivizes Hollywood by paying half - if not more in some cases - of production costs on film and tv production done in that country.
That's interesting, especially because, IIRC, Canada has no laws or regulations requiring disclosure of bio-engineered/GMO ingredients in food produced there.
Trump understands power dynamics, the basic fact here is that Canada needs the US, we do not need Canada. It all comes down to that dynamic. This example shows it, they clearly state they need US consumers so bad they will move their operations cross border to keep them. Here’s how this plays out, Trudeau, being a moron, took the bait of a chance to look like a tough guy and is doing retaliatory tariffs. That will make it more expensive for Canadians on the goods they get from us, that they need to get from us. The Americans can make anything domestically that we get from Canada so the Trump tariffs on Canadian imports is not a big deal for us, just creates more jobs here in the US and Canada gets shafted. Trudeau MADE IT WORSE for them. Now Trump might escalate with even higher tariffs, creating an even stronger incentive for companies to move here, bye bye Canadian jobs, bye bye income from US to Canada, all ours now. So, as that situation gets more and more dire north of the border the jobless Canadians and their worthless currency will be begging to…. that’s right baby… 51st state.
We don't need foreign companies coming here, buying up land and property and setting up shop.
I doubt people would feel the same about it if it was a bunch or Mexican or Chinese companies planning to do the same thing.
We don't need more foreigners owning US property.
We don't need more competition against American Owned businesses.
Why are people viewing this as a win?
It's like people just see "Oh, they're not happy about the tariffs! We win!" and that's all they're able to comprehend about this.
So, uh, yay! Foreign companies are finding work-around to tariffs, so now we'll have a bunch of Mexicans and Chinese coming over here, buying up property, having their entire families immigrating (legally) and competing against American owned businesses! Yay! Winning! 😒
Not a fan of vegan products. But at least it doesn’t have bugs in it and I suppose the lefties will still have to eat so sure you can make your pet food here.
Now we just need to make sure that Bobby outlaws all the poisons you can put in food here
Bingo! We certainly don't need these companies or their "food" if it's going to be toxic/GMO/bioengineered.
Send It Baby!!
That was fast! 💨
Wonder what Baskin Robbin’s 31 Flavors will do… all their ice cream sold in the US is manufactured in Canada with Canadian subsidies.
Shut the front door! Never knew that fact.

Watch what the car companies do. Canada and Mexico rely on the car companies and US sales.

Canada: Fk your cricket flour bullshit. Don't even think about it. We'll burn it to the ground.
They’ll like business under President Trump rather than Trudeau or whoever his eventual replacement will be.

My sentiments exactly, and I said as much not too far back in a post about Saudi investing a good chunk of money here.
Wait and see I guess...
Curious how many of their Montreal workers are born in Canada.
Should we all be stocking up on real maple syrup before the tariffs hit?
Or, you know, buy that real maple syrup from real maple syrup makers in New England. It's not like maple trees know where the borders are, you know.

Figured someone else may want to see their product offerings. Mid Day Squares looks tasty, but not big on pancakes myself.
