Sounds like my town in NJ. We have an Indian mayor. The Indians buy up all the houses and then rent them for high rents.
sounds like my area, almost. we get legal Indians in here, they open up a business, get 5-7 years tax relief and when that time is up they sell their business to a relative who then gets 5-7 years tax relief on their business. keeps going on like this for decades.

It's also a bit boring and lacking in energy. I was teaching at a large Canadian university and all the Canadians hated all the Americans. I didn't get it. But, we just hung around with the Austrians and the Poles and all the other foreigners, and it was fine.
