Tom McDonald makes some really, really awesome music.
Totally 100% for sure maybe unrelated: it’d be awesome if churches would start buying tattoo removal machines and offering free services in at least a few locations around the country, with highly visible tattoos getting access to higher prioritization.
26 "'You shall not eat any meat with the blood still in it; neither shall you use enchantments, nor practice sorcery.
27 You shall not cut the hair on the sides of your heads, neither shall you clip off the edge of your beard.
28 "'You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you. I am the LORD.
29 Don't profane your daughter, to make her a prostitute; lest the land fall to prostitution, and the land become full of wickedness.
30 "'You shall keep my Shabbatot, and reverence my sanctuary; I am the LORD.
Jesus tore the veil. The body is the new Temple. If the Temple of Solomon was on the Mount, or even the great Cathedrals of Europe, no Christian alive would like seeing someone spray paint it. Yet, here we are.
(Trust me, anyone with tattoos, this isn’t meant to offend - I’m not holier than thou, and we absolutely have bigger fish to fry right now, it’s just the truth as best as I can see it for your consideration in moving forward, be convicted of your own conscience or not
4 Who are you who judge another's servant? To his own lord he stands or falls. Yes, he will be made to stand, for God has power to make him stand.
5 One man esteems one day as more important. Another esteems every day alike. Let each man be fully assured in his own mind.)
That one may be a translation issue, which does happen in spots. Think goatees, or those side-shaved long hair on top haircuts, but I don’t claim an opinion there.
The gist I get is - be distinguished through works and character, rather than through distinct markings and decorations.
As with all things presented here, everyone should discern the truth for themselves.
It’s not explicit vs. interpretation so much as “there is no perfect translation”. Get a Strong’s Concordance and study items of disagreement for yourself.
For instance, the KJV translates “tattoos” as “marks”
Transliteration: qaʿăqaʿ
Pronunciation: kah-ak-ah'
Part of Speech: masculine noun
Root Word (Etymology): From the same as קוּעַ (H6970)
TWOT Reference: 2046a
Outline of Biblical Usage: incision, imprintment, tattoo, mark
KJV Translation Count: 1x
The KJV translates Strongs H7085 in the following manner: marks (1x).
Strong's Definitions: קַעֲקַע qaʻăqaʻ, kah-ak-ah'; from the same as H6970; an incision or gash:— mark.
So why the rounding the corner of my head is interpretation? Easily, I don’t have “corners” on my head that I’m aware of. There is clearly a context they intended. Some people will tell you what that context is. It’s then up to you to believe them or not.
I believe that tattoo/mark is a more firm equivalence than I can make of “corners of your head” is the only difference.
There is an argument to be made that “tattoo” here is more akin to gouging out flesh to create scarring, akin to how some people use branding irons now.
The safest translation to me seems to be the previously offered one of do not seek to create individualism through fleshly divergence, but to adorn yourself simply in a holy manner (described elsewhere).
Again, while I’m not trying to be misleading or judgmental, it is necessary for everyone to discern these things for themselves. It’s not unique to the Bible either, there are plenty of secular issues where we must do the same thing.
I simply bring this subject up because the church no longer does, and I feel the claim is supported by scripture and seek to offer it for others to weigh. If the point is correct, Christians should seek to flee from it, yes?

I'm not sure why you're being rigid about the tattoos, but giving some leeway to cutting hair/trimming the beard.
That's kinda funny. I've never felt comfortable with getting fades. I've always wanted my hair to be the same all around, but I've never heard of this verse.
Awesome song!! I’ve never listened to the rap stuff BUT I made an exception a few years ago when I actually listened the message Tom MacDonald was saying. His music skills are improving with time.
The one in the OP is better. It's deeper than just: hurr hurr Joe Biden bad! That being said, Tom still seems like just another one of those typical Ben Shapiro, Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson, guys who just says all the stuff you want to hear.

How come some bits are worded explicitly while others are up for interpretation? It's possible that tattoos meant something different back then

Sorry, corners? The bit that was quoted earlier didn’t mention corners.
You may not have corners, that much I can agree with. Sides though, you most certainly do.
Which verse is that? Same one or another translation?
My bigger point was that there are definitely some verses that are harder to understand than others.
It's from your comment earlier in the thread.
I'm not sure why you're being rigid about the tattoos, but giving some leeway to cutting hair/trimming the beard.
You know what... You answered a question I've had for years. I never was able to grasp the idea behind those strange OT verses. Tyvm 👊
Sounds like (someone) rewrote it.

Not the normal Tom McDonald music. Loved this. He’s always got great stuff to say
Edit: I generally like all his stuff, but rap is not my thing. I could play this over and over
Thank you! I'm not a rap fan, but I have immensely enjoyed Tom McDonalds rap songs. This one is beautiful.
Where's our younger, music anon? Damn, don't remember his handle, but he posts songs for perusal. Awesome anon

I wonder...
How many adults believe...
there's a man...
in the sky?
I do. His name is Jesus. He rose from the dead after dying for my sins.
Jesus said, "The Kingdom of heaven is within you"
What do you think that means?
You mean that “Zeus” feller? 😁
Appreciate what he’s trying to say though… or at least what it sounded to me like he was trying to say?
Tom never disappoints. This is beautiful.
The best so far from him was this: https://greatawakening.win/p/199OYdthAd/tom-macdonald--goodbye-joe/c/

Or maybe they believe in what they say. You not God just cannot accept them.
