Most of it is just regurgitation of day/night talk shows and the biases in MSM reporting. If the media changed, the people voting would too.
Those are mostly people who just don't think about the subject much. They have read a few articles somewhere, seen some talking heads on television saying that whatever is not a good thing and yadda yadda, and then when asked, well, don't think but just say what they have seen said, or mark on a poll what fits what they have seen said. There is probably some percentage of true believers who have swallowed the idea hook, line, and sinker, and will keep on advocating for it, and a slightly larger percentage of a more mild version of them, but most are just people to whom whatever the subject is, it doesn't matter all that much to them personally, so they don't really think about it, and so end up copying the "official" seeming opinion if asked.

I changed one persons view after I let her talk about how afraid she was, crying even about what DOGE was doing. If the question is simply 'why aren't these all 100% support?' it's most usually because the folks on the wrong side of the issues are profitting from these things and don't want the gravy to stop a la USaid shills.
