Not really. Tech people make a disproportionate amount of money compared to working class and normal white collar people in the Seattle area. Wanna house? Your family needs to clear $350,000+ yearly. This isn’t an exaggeration. The house my parents sold for 1.1 mil 10 years ago is now with 3.4 mil.
Working class and tradesmen people are getting killed out here by cost of living. It has nothing to do with “hard work”. These aren’t Starbucks baristas and McDonald’s workers. These are people in manufacturing, construction, food and beverage plants etc. jobs that need to be done.
Then these tech workers leave and ruin places like Montana driving out the locals by buying houses they barely stay in driving up housing prices.

THIS, AND THE INCREDIBLE WASTE D.O.G.E. IS STOPPING, IS WHAT WILL BALANCE THE BUDGET đź‘Ťđź‘Ť
I want to know about his year's tax burden for my family. Will I have to pay it or will there be a law passed before April 15 which says I don't have to pay? What if I decide to not pay and then a new law passes that says folks who earn under $150K don't have to pay, will the income tax police come to my house and arrest me? What should a poor guy do in this situation?
This removes the waste for starters. Why have non payers file and get money back? Waste of time and money on the part of us and then its. Cost 300 bucks to file taxes now just together my return check. Why take it to begin with? They already know i won't be paying.
Step one. We wasted our time and money filing now, then they waste their time and money sending most of it back. Good first elimination. Round two up to 500k.
How are your going to punish success and say, with a straight face, that you're trying to improve the country?
How are you going to say the country is fair and equal and then demand money from people who make over a certain amount of money but none from others who make less than that amount?
How is this not a gross violation of the equal protection clause? This is a blatant violation of treating everyone the same, saying the tax law applies to one group of people but not another.
So fuck it, what should my wife and I do, negate the efforts we've made in our careers to both top 150k in order to take lesser positions we held 15 years ago in order to dip under 150k a year so that the government doesn't take money from us?
What I've been reading from others here is that people who make under 150k get all the money back anyways so it's more about not spending the money on employee hours.
Tax relief is almost never retroactive. If he 'balances the budget' he might try to get tax relief passed before the end of the year. Which means next April 15th, a lot of refunds going out.
Of course, it's just temporary. Unless Trump also succeeds in modifying the 16th amendment to keep the (D)ems from fucking it up at a later date.
I would assume that if this were to happen the Present Taxpayer would keep all of the money during the year , rather than have taxes taken out every paycheck…there would then be no money taken out to refund back…
This is good news. Calm down on the criticism. We’re not getting a complete statement on policy, just a tidbit on the direction he’s headed. This is a step in the right direction.

$150k isn't as much as many think it is.
It should be ZERO for everyone.
Putting a cap on it, deincentivises people to work hard.

I believe it fren. The east coast has its share of that too...
House hunters tho...."He's a civil war arrowhead historian and she sells seashells by the seashore. Their budget is $5,000,000 for a starter home..."
Absolutely agree.. That’s where the Step in the Right Direction comes in..
Civil Servants “If we manage to stop wasting your money, we won’t need to steal as much”.
That is the essence of what he just said.
Ah yes ... truth in advertising

You will definitely need to file.
Thanks.
Well, that’s a big IF.
I don't like this at all. It should be no income taxes for everyone. I don't get it and don't like it.

It already is this way. This is per household. That is a lot less than people think. These people already get most or all of it back.
Step one. We wasted our time and money filing now, then they waste their time and money sending most of it back. Good first elimination. Round two up to 500k.
How the fuck is this okay?

Has anyone seen if this is per individual or will a married filing joint be 300k?
It says household. So I would assume it means a joint filing would have to be under 150k. No joy for my household.
Nope!!!
The first $150k for everyone should be tax free. That’s the only way it will be fair, but no income taxes is best.
I wonder how this effects households who get refunds every year due to child credit and standard deductions.
I would assume that if this were to happen the Present Taxpayer would keep all of the money during the year , rather than have taxes taken out every paycheck…there would then be no money taken out to refund back…
Thusbl saving much administrative time and money for both parties.

I would be ok with a consumption tax i guess. On new goods and services. But no tax would be best
