Bankrupt 23andMe’s DNA Data Gets Sale Nod as Concerns Linger
(Bloomberg) -- Bankrupt genetic testing firm 23andMe Holding Co. won permission from a judge to try to sell information about customers’ medical and ancestry-related data, a trove that is considered the most valuable asset in the insolvency case — and has ...
We tried to warn them...
I have a family and a couple of good friends that love me. I have no care in the world about where people long long dead were from. It does not matter where u were from, only where u are.
💯☝️… and how you spend the time you have been given…
Maybe Elon should buy it and destroy all the collected DNA.
What could possibly go wrong?
Its just optics to do whatever it is they have always wanted to do with such a huge DNA database.
I’m sure they’ve already sold all the data. The corrupt court ruling just gave them the needed cover.
Bingo.
Its not really your privacy if its sold in bankruptcy 🤣
the people who willingly bought those DNA kits and submitted their DNA to 23&Me gave up their rights, didn't they?
Just so they could find out some scandals involving their reelatives. I hope it was worth it.
Who in their right mind DID NOT see this was the whole purpose of 23and Me?
20 years zero profit then go bankrupt and sell the dna info. Lulz.
Golly, I just can't figure out why they offered DNA testing for far below the going rate. All they ended up with was a gigantic, cross-referenced DNA database and bankruptcy. /s
We do not want enemies to get this. Bio weapons use genetic info, and not in a good way. Hopefully, the defense department will keep an eye on this. All of that info should be destroyed in my opinion.
What happened to the HIPAA law?
Yikes.
If Elon publicly said he is buying the database, judges from coast to coast would come out of the woodwork to block it.
Even my extremely far-left liberal sister wasn't stupid enough to fall for this scam, thank God!
i wish i was this lucky. i even got a kit for a Christmas present. i threw it out.
I'm adopted and was very tempted to do the test. Inasmuch as I'm sad I'll never know about my blood family, I'm very glad I never did it.
Now you're all sorry you fell for this DNA grab.
