The name has earlier origins in the Classical Era. Specifically in now lost writings of the Greek Explorer Pytheas of Massalia. Only reason we even know of his exploration North. Is because his work regarding that journey was well publicized in the Classical era and other Authors knew and made reference to them.
Accounts varied wildly over the years as to its location, inhabitants, even environment.
It's almost as if there's a massive Patriot-centered initiative to support a permanent and expansionistic presence in space which the enemies to most of humankind happen to passionately oppose.
Once humanity is secured on more than one world and shown that we can thrive the possibility of ever reasserting the control over us they had in the past will be impossible. They may be able to control one planet or a settlement or two, but the whole of humanity will be free and beholden to no one save the true God.
And that scares the hell out of them as that's when the demons will come calling to collect and they won't have enough innocent souls to buy an extension.
More likely because they recognize that a big push into space will engender a lot of advanced technology, with lots of collateral benefits resulting. World War II was that way: jet aircraft, atomic energy, radar, miniaturized electronics, guidance systems, ballistic missiles. I think the Russians understand this, too.
The Thule (/ΛΞΈjuΛli/ THEW-lee, US also /ΛtuΛli/ TOO-lee] or proto-Inuit were the ancestors of all modern Inuit. They developed in coastal Alaska by 1000 AD and expanded eastward across northern Canada, reaching Greenland by the 13th century. In the process, they replaced people of the earlier Dorset culture who had previously inhabited the region. The appellation "Thule" originates from the location of Thule (relocated and renamed Qaanaaq in 1953) in northwest Greenland, facing Canada, where the archaeological remains of the people were first found at Comer's Midden.
Indeed. Used to be called Thule AFB
Interesting.... wasn't there a Thule Society active in Germany in the 1920s?
