I have been hoping Trump would remove Cannabis from the federal schedule of controlled substances. What is he waiting for. Do you all think he will do it? Why? Why not?

It should be removed from Federal law and never should have been Fed la la land in the first place.
Send it back to the State level for them to decide, where it belongs.
I do believe that President Trump will make this happen.
During the campaign he said regarding marijuana legalization:
"should be a state issue, state by state."
Hence, he's got to get the ball rolling by pushing for the de-scheduling of it.
I think even the states should not be able to ban it. It is a constitutional right.
Trump already legalized weed during his first term with the Farm Bill. Drive down to your local smoke shop. What more do you want?
To grow my own few plants without fear of my home being taken by the Feds. That's what I want.
He only legalized hemp (which in is awesome). The weed from dispensaries is garbage and lacks most of the good qualities the plant can have.
Going there after work.
The ability to freely choose potency at our own discretion would be nice, that’s like legalizing non alcoholic beer during the prohibition. Sure the sentiment is nice but it’s honestly kind of pointless.
I'm for legalized weed, but as a heavy smoker for. a few decades I can definitely attest to its effect on my ability to focus. Better than booze in that it doesn't make people violent. Todays weed is scary strong.
Fact. Scary strong. "Street weed" that was available in the 60s and 70s was 7% THC at best. These new strains can be 30% or better before concentrating..
That is what people now days don't fully realize
7% gave me panic attacks. It's not for everyone. The new stuff would blot me out.
This is not entirely true. Potent Cannabis has always been available. There used to be varieties that were psychedelic.
I like to grow old school strains. Club weed is groggy crap.
While I don't think it is a priority right now, I do believe President Trump is all for the American people and with what I think would be a majority, though I could be wrong about that, of Americans who want cannabis removed from the federal schedule of controlled substances, I believe he would do it for us.
I think its way more important than concert tickets and some other things also requires almost no effort on his part.
I am starting to suspect that it is indeed, a huge issue and he must be waiting till we are closer to the midterms.
Personally, I don't care if cannabis is legalized or not. It if were 100% legal in Texas, I and my family wouldn't smoke it regardless. Cannabis makes people lazy and stupid, unable to remember thing that they've just read, or unable to focus.
You can't go through college like that and get decent grades if you're inhibiting your own ability to remember and focus. Any professional with anything on the ball... would simply NOT choose to smoke pot, just like they would reject heavy drinking.
That said, having different state laws on marijuana is harmful. In Oklahoma and Colorado, pot is legal. In Kansas, which borders Oklahoma and Colorado, pot is illegal. In Texas, pot is illegal.
Within 20 miles of the Texas border with Oklahoma and within 10 miles of the Kansas border with Oklahoma are untold hundreds of pot dispensaries. Same with Colorado's borders. Why? Well.... people cross state lines to buy, which then sets them up for police stops and arrests when they drive back across the line. It can be a drug smuggling charge in addition to possession with intent to distribute (if in large amount).
There are currently 24 states in the United States that have legalized recreational marijuana as of 2025. That means there are 26 states where it is still illegal.
The USA should have one unified policy. It's bad when people are convicted of a felony in one state for something that is perfectly legal in another. Just recognize that 24 states have legalized usage... and the Earth is still spinning. The USA hasn't suffered one bit from that. Maybe it's time to just unify the law across all the states, plus take that money away from organized crime and support legitimate businesses. Let the FDA regulate it as a over-the-counter drug and be done with it. Let every pharmacy sell it, like buying Sudafed at the pharmacy counter. Show your drivers license, then buy the amount that you are allowed within that 30-day period just like Sudafed.
Carl Sagan would disagree.
Carl Sagan was a Homosapien.
What would Carl Sagan disagree with? Sorry, I missed something here.
Cannabis doesn't make people lazy and stupid. Television, school, and media do.
Why don't those states legalize it then? This is like the vaccine mandate in reverse. If people want it, let them have it. If people don't want it, they don't need to worry about it
I don't think he's for recreational drugs based on his past remarks about alcohol, tobacco and drugs. He might be for it in a medical setting though. Personally I think all drugs should be treated like alcohol, I'm more libertarian on that issue, perhaps erroneously. I think the abusers would weed themselves out, but the medical system would need a good policy so as to not be overburdened by OD's. It's a tricky area for me to navigate my position on, but something in me cringes at the idea that the government can make objects illegal.
Of course, this extends to bazookas 😅
I think Cannabis should be as free as tomatoes.
Do i think you should go to jail for smoking... hell no. But do I h8 smelling it in public... fuck yeah. I want it to be if you're caught smoking at a park or in public spaces, straight to jail. In your own house no problamo. Or build places to go enjoy this recreation so i know where to avoid being around not to inhale that putrid smell
Shouldn't you just be glad that God gave you a nose and sense of smell? Life isn't all potpourri and rose petals. People should not hafta suffer because someone else thinks they smell. Fish smells. Should people go to jail for having some stinky fish. Or, burning the popcorn???
That alone makes me feel that it's okay with it being a criminal offense so we can throw anyone in jail for not being considerate. Like I said I don't want to smell it and I'm more than happy with reporting someone who's publicly smoking. I don't care if I ruin their life do it privately where it doesn't bother me
That's what a Karen would say. Absolutely unAmerican.
Stay inside please, where the air is just to your liking.
Legalizing weed is probably not his thing, but I agree state-level policy would be better than the federalized war on drugs.
Yeah, people keep saying its not his thing. But, they seem to be forgetting that he is the President. Also, the constitution is his thing and so is a love for the American people. I think he's waiting for the midterm.
In the near future if you are working a job that benefits the American economy, you should be allotted X amount of Marijuana every month. You can either acquire the marijuana or sell the allotment. A similar thing could be done for beer. You get X amount tax free beers each month. Then you can buy the beers or sell them right..It creates a stable market and leaves everyone with some fun buying and selling in their daily lives. You could create public terminals that you do the trading over.. This ties into a Quantum system of goods and services
I sometimes wish Trump would turn the DEA into a Cannabis buyer and selling hub. Growers can sell directly to the government for a guaranteed price and buyers can buy directly from the DEA at the same price or with a very very small tax to cover the cost of running the hub.
Here's my idea..Since the hard working farmers have been feeding us all this time. They should participate in the Marijuana profits. Why should they be denied this cash crop? 5% to 10% of gross sales should go into a fund that is distributed to Farmers year round. This will help cover monthly payments during the leaner months on the farm. Each farm gets 1 unit of participation for every 100 acres up to 300 hundred acres of active farms. I recommend having 400 acres and let 100 acres go fallow every year to lower the need for fertilizers with smart crop rotation and soil conservation. This way the wealth is spread out and it will help keep the costs of food down. .
Wealth should have nothing to do with it. It is only a cash crop because it is illegal. Once it is legalized it will become nearly worthless from a monetary perspective. I say just free the weed. We don't need any more "government knows best."
Them City Slickers will still pay other people to grow their Stash.
Go work at Anheiser Busch. Free case a week.
When is was young, my Grandpa took me to Busch Gardens. There was a line where you could Get a free beer and the beer tap was wide open and the man kept filling up beers. I thought it was an endless fountain of beer. It was a miracle
This is too close to the Antifa handbook.
You can opt out. You could make some extra cash each.month or enjoy some cheap weed and cheaper beer..if you consume more, you'll pay more
That’s UBI because it comes from the government. Paid by taxpayers. So people can make their own money back, at best, but there won’t be enough buyers for something coming in every month for free. Hopefully the opt-out lowers your tax.
People grow their own plants for extra cash. The government could provide the seeds.
How so?
Promises free drugs for everyone.
Edit: I may be wrong on which pamphlet the free drugs promise came from. It was within the antics movement though.
Also, this is too lefty. Like Biden handing out crack pipes. Other pro-drug movements just crumble everything. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/vancouver-free-drugs-cocaine-heroin-canada-b1885905.html
If life is good, one doesn’t turn to drugs. Rat Park study. The people handing out the free drugs know this study.
Not the same thing. As a responsible working adult, you get access to recreational items that are limited. I agree about Hard Drugs I know high functioning lawyers and Dentists who relax at the end of a hard day with some good quality stuff. You can't dismiss a new idea without understanding it entirely. We are in agreement of Liberally giving access to addictive and permanent damaging drugs
It’s $10… for too much. The only access needed is to decriminalize. Is the government going to decide who is the responsible adult like the CCP credit score? Age and ID is what we use.
Study the drugs. Then make the true knowledge public to society - all pros and cons. Let people decide if they want to spend the $10.
Same as eating junk food or injecting a vaccine. The $10 is the barrier to allow someone to stop and make a decision.
Too many people grab at every free thing, so studies mean nothing to them. If drugs are free people will have them, and even more than needed, simply because they are free, not because it is best for them.
You're repeating yourself. I've proposed an Algorithm to help life become more interesting. It can be used for many variations.
The thing is, Cannabis shouldn't be thought of as a "drug." It is much more like tobacco. But, healthier and way better.
