I was looking at the list of names and chose solely by names that fit current events. I wanted Journalism to finish last and Sovereignty to win. American Promise was another choice. (regrettably Journalism finished 2nd.)
Hopefully this is an sign of what is to come. May all countries be sovereign.
Bob Baffert is back as trainer after being busted for doping horses, which was interesting. Corruption is in all sports…
The jockey from Venezuela also gave praise to his Lord, Jesus Christ for his win.
It was AWESOME - as soon as he crossed the finish line, he pointed his index finger up to the sky, and he kept doing it. His clear message was “Glory to Jesus. Jesus gave me this victory, and I am honoring him.” It was so touching.
God is sovereign too!
Did Jockey Alvarado praise God for the victory? Why Yes, yes he did!

7-1? 17 in the mirror?
Also things that make you go hmmm.
Absolutely! ☝️🙌
Lane 18, q plus. Trump is the lane Q uses to win

Sovereignty is owned by Godolphin from Dubai, Saudi Arabia.
Think Sword Dance.

Godolphin? The modern thoroughbred originates with 3 horses, one is the Godolphin Arabian, named after its last owner Francis Godolphin 2nd Earl of Godolphin. He was also owned by Louis the XV of France.
It sounds like the line got back to the Middle East and then racing in the US.
And thoroughbred breeders are meticulous about preserving the bloodlines. Both father and mother of the foal must be registered thoroughbreds. There's no AI in thoroughbreds.
(AI = Artificial Insemination)
Every horse that was in the derby this year is related to Secretariat.
No cloning, either.

Pete Hegseth also mentioned the win...

I came here to post Sovereignty beat the favorite, Journalism, and I am not surprised that this was already posted, and Stickied!
Also, Publisher lost too, LOL.

Who chose these names for their horses?
Publisher? Lol
Lot of strict requirements for names of racing Thoroughbreds. They're traditionally named after their sire and dam; "Publisher" is by American Pharoah and his dam was Indian Pride by Proud Citizen.
The name may have been a tribute of some kind to a friend who was in the publishing business.

Was hoping for "Render Judgment" to win. lol
He was definitely a sentimental favorite. He did finish #17, tho!
Come on, that's like the Patriots winning the Super Bowl in 2002.
What is it with woman got to scream like Cheetah from Tarzan movie. (Listen to that chick screaming at end)
The race track is the only place main stream journalism isn't dead.
