Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Rules For the rest of the Site also accessible on the sidebar.

I am asking for some serious prayers please. We are once again at a cancer center and currently insurance has denied approval for a trial treatment. I can and will fight and likely win but not sure I can do it in time for the trial. My son’s cancer is not the kind that responds to the protocols I wish that were the case and the complications rules out the other treatments. I am asking for prayers that obstacles not set by God be removed and favor but also for renewed strength. Thanks to much good advice from this board he is doing much better but ultimately we are praying for full restoration of his health. This is an antibody trial and the only cure hope. Additionally any info on that would also be appreciated. To have a cure dangled then snatched back by insurance has been devastating however I believe as he has taught us through out this that God is decider not doctors not insurance. This guy has been fighting so hard for half his life and missed out on so much. I am tired Boss. I know others far more deserving have endured so much more- yet I can’t not ask. He is my favorite boy in all the world and I want him to know life without this sword over his head. So if I may once more request what has been given in love so many times from my frens. Pray for us. Please
Praying now Joan for you both...🙏🙌🤍
Father, We surrender our illness, fears and worries into Your Hands. We know Your Purpose For Our Life is Abundant Health. We Claim Your Complete and Total Healing for Joan's son in the Blood of Jesus! Open doors and break all barriers to his treatment. We trust You Father for all of our needs and ask these things in Your Precious Name. The Name Above ALL OTHERS! AMEN! 🙏🙌
With the full Healing Authority of Jesus Christ Almighty, Amen!
He is healed. He is healed. Keep repeating it. In Jesus name, your son is healed, and believe it. Receive your blessings.
Thank you
Prayers up.
Don't say it's the only hope, even if it's the only one you have today. Keep the hope alive always.
I think I mentioned it before to you in another thread, but all cancers are natural responses to metabolic conditions, and all can be treated holistically. It's primarily an electrical imbalance, treatable by increasing mineralized plasma and cutting off carbs --- and eating meat instead. It may sound wacky and too good to be true, but if you're interested in the protocol, respond and I'll link the guy I follow.
🙏 God, hear our prayers for this young man, and may he live long and vigorously proving your glory to all. 🙏
Thank you
My prayers are with you, your son, and your family.
What happened to the 'right to try' new treatments, maybe there there other avenues to pursue besides insurance?
Shame you have to fight for something you know you're going to win! You both have come so far with your warrior spirit, may you continue to overcome and things be settled in a timely fashion.
I pray that Jesus lifts you off the sand during this arduous time in your journey.🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you

We use part of the protocols unfortunately they won’t work on his particular type ( non tumor) we have had tremendous success with increasing his overall health and quality of life with anti parasites and naturopathic intervention.Thank you for posting and I can attest that this path has restored much of his health.
YW...glad it helped with quality of life... praying for TOTAL HEALING! 🙏🙌🤍
Thank you
I invited my father-in-law and his girlfriend over to join my husband and I for dinner. The floods here in the Hill Country have dragged all of us down. After dinner we played a game of dominoes. Spend time with your family. Nobody is guaranteed a tomorrow, so enjoy the time you have with your loved ones now. Good night GAW family.
🙏🤍
Ephesians 3:20-21
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Amen!
Great verse 🙏

Day by day.
Something that has been on my mind and I think I have found clarity on.
I'm an atheist, but don't think it matters for this thought exercise. As an atheist I strive for a world view that makes sense that doesn't involve any religion.
Various religions cover their hair. I don't find this a problem unless it is forced. You can shave your head for all I care. Hair can be covered, colored, cut, curled, braided, and even straightened. Hell, even grown out. It is cosmetic.
The face is completely different.
Identification
Communication
Objectification
If the face is covered, it hinders identification.
If the face is covered, it results in impaired communication due to blocking speech, impairing respiration needed to produce speech, and blocks nonverbal communication.
If the face is covered, it removes the humanity of people. They become objects; especially with complete face coverings.
So, generally speaking, face coverings should not be used and definitely should not be mandated.
Note: I don't think a wedding veil is used much anymore to cover the face, but that's more of a form of temporary gift wrapping.
I know a lot of atheists who covered there faces for almost 4 years (and some who still do) 🤣
I miss when Nancy Pelosi used to cover her face.
That's a fair point I assume.
I still see droids wearing masks. One in a theater the other day could definitely have been an atheist.
I think its fair to say that the trance-like, post-hypnotic suggestion-ism induced into mass societal psychosis during 2020 and 2021 was an equal opportunity affliction, affecting both the religious, the irreligious, the believers and the non-believers.
But are you trying to tell me that R2D2 also wore a mask? Strange programming, that one.
𝘞𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥.
These are not the droids you're looking for.
Ouch. Quick! Get the aloe vera!!!
Masks don't work.
Except as a cover-up.
They do in some theatrical productions. Take Phantom of the Opera, for example.
Muhammad disagrees with you as does Louis XIV
I'm wondering what is the essence of your thinking/questioning here.
Is it the idea that its wrong for religions to promote or mandate facial coverings because of the reasons re: that the face is too important for 'more important' human activities and aspects of life, more important than the religious or spiritual imperative that the practice might be seen as an expression of?
Or, are you saying simply that, regardless of any connection or context from a person's religion, face coverings are just a bad idea in general, and should not be used?
I personally dislike the use of hijab in any form, but I also have a view of religious practice that considers most human religions (and their sects) as belonging to a very, very broad spectrum, from the more animistic to the highly theistic, from the simple to the sophisticated, and that they are best understood in the context of the culture and history from which they arise.
That last point is important, I think, because in a world with hyperfast global communication and an extremely developed sphere of scientific and technical (aka intellectual (often material-related)) thought, the entire context for religions - all religions - is in flux, and I get the impression that the perspective you are offering here is specifically grounded in the environment you see around you, which is more than likely NOT the context in which the particular religious behaviors or traditions that have inspired you to think about them (in this way) are naturally grounded.
In other words, there's a cultural context here.
Anyway, I guess, I'm wondering, what is your primary concern. Is it related to the religious practices, or simply to a non-religious context (in which, for example, the whole covidmask nonsense was grounded, although to be sure, it certainly bore the hallmarks of a pseudo-religion at the time)?
If its the religious practices, then I think I can understand that, from an Atheistic perspective, you (perhaps) think there is no real value or benefit to (certain or all) <religious practices>.
However, my own view of religion tends to try to appreciate the religious practice in a relative, contextual way (religious history being a history of (generally) progressive developments headed towards a culmination which we as a species or as a family have not yet witnessed, in which case, I can generally appreciate the value that someone finds in their religious practice even if I don't personally partake.
And, freedom of religion is key to human freedom in general (including the freedom to be an atheist or a theist, for example).
So I guess I'm saying on a personal level, I find some practices somewhat distasteful, and possibly less than optimal, but also that I can appreciate that the value that a particular person derives from their religious practice is not something that I can necessarily and fully object or deny simply based on my own preferences or for that matter, on some sort of objective or material standard.
But if your question is unrelated to the religious context, then why even mention it? Are you simply trying (thinking) to find what seems to you a rational and objective reason why certain religious practices should not be considered valid?
Just thinking out aloud here, btw.
I appreciate your response. I can see why you're the [Narrative Buster]. Kek!
I'm looking for an objective, material standard (for society, in public) and reasons to back that up.
I grasp the concept of religious people doing religious things because it makes them feel humble before their god and such. It's part of their religious practice.
But, there has to be a line somewhere. Think of it more in terms of legality because that's where my mind is.

Hijab, no problem.
Niqab, no. Burka, definitely no.
We can't have a women wearing a burka get their driver's license photo; for example.
Beyond that, I was looking for a great way to wage an argument; at least in the English language.
"Identification, Communication, and Objectification"
I think that has a nice ring to it.
And this goes for atheists wearing face coverings as well.
Hi frens, just ran across this & with all the “natural?” flooding going on I think it’s worth sharing.
• Most people who drown in submerged cars… never knew what to do.
• If your car ever goes underwater, stay calm and remember this:
• Don’t waste time trying to open the doors. The water pressure makes them nearly impossible to push open.
• Don’t roll down the windows. Floodwater rushes in faster — trapping you.
• Remove the headrest. Most car headrests detach — and double as window breakers.
• Break the back window. Use the metal tips of the headrest (or a proper window breaker). The rear windshield is designed differently — it’s your best escape route.
• Why the back window? Most cars sink rear-first — making that your quickest and safest way out.
• Knowledge is survival. You might never need this — but if you do, it could save your life.
Also my tip: I always carry this in case of emergency. It cuts your seatbelt & will break the car window. This is I link I found online. There are many different options & available most online stores. My husband got mine at the local fire truck repair shop.

I left my country at the ripe old age of 20. In those days, AC/DC was still a Melbourne band, and Split Enz were in the charts. I came back (roughly) 24 years later, and found that internationally, AC/DC was an uber mega Rock Band, and Crowded House was internationally acclaimed.
Again, sir, you once again confirm that you are certainly not 'light'. Great clip. (ty)
