Americans targeted in Mexico City as locals protest against tourism and soaring rents
Anti-tourism protests erupted in Mexico City as locals face gentrification challenges similar to Barcelona and Venice demanding stricter housing laws and legislation to regulate tourism levels.
Mexico has become a retirement place for Americans who can not afford living in the U.S.
Might be a good time to come back. jmo
I know some folks who moved there. Haven’t heard from them in a long time.
Funny how that works. Illegals come here and suck off the system that taxes the hell out of Americans so they pack up and go to Mexico because it's cheaper while slowly raising the cost of living in Mexico, which causes more Mexicans to go to the states illegally for free shit. Maybe everyone should just stay in their own damn country. You want prosperity in Mexico, change it don't run away like a bitch.
Strange. I never heard Mexicans do something like this in Mexico until a deep state puppet got into power. Almost like this isn't organic.
They may be paid thugs like Antifa.
I was implying something like that
Don't remember Comandante Marcos and the Zapatistas? And around the same time period there was a general in central-west Mexico leading an armed insurrection. They have plenty of home-grown insurrection history. Don't know about this case, but they do.
The irony is palpable.
They’re protesting about people who got the most part are down there legally, but fully expect the U.S. to keep and take care of the illegals they have.
The irony is that it most likely isn't the foreigners offering to pay higher prices - it's their fellow Mexicans seeing Americans as piggy banks to fleece. They get a couple of Americans to pay exorbitant prices and then they don't care what they sell to fellow Mexicans for.
Most Americans think they're supporting the local economy by paying the "Gringo Tax", but it turns out these cultures don't GAF about their fellow citizens or they'd use the windfall to lower prices to the locals or otherwise improve their communities.
To be fair almost no culture would lower prices if they could get higher ..for anyone local or not.
Just look at the Malibu fires. No one lowered rent to help out people who had no where to go. In fact they had to put in laws to prevent people from price gouging.
Human nature and economics.
Mostly peaceful demorats down there.
They look like ANTIFA. jmo

Mexican Rioters 'Forcibly Deport' Americans… as Country Collapses
Steinbaum said we'd "regret" kicking out all her illegals, didn't she?
This has USAID/Cartel written all over it.
A tad bit ironic (and hypocritical) I must say. The Americans there are probably at least net contributors to the local economies
It’s really no different from Californians selling 2bd 2bath houses for 1mm+ and escaping to Montana or Colorado driving housing prices through the roof. The locals are being priced out of the market. I have a good friend that (had) a house in Guadalajara area, where there is a lot of Americans, and the locals enjoyed the higher prices they got for goods and services they started the rumblings of not being able to afford to live and he saw what is happening so sold out and went and purchased in Panama. He lives a lifestyle of the “rich and famous” on an average income and still works part time. It’s very luring if you don’t care missing your family and friends.
