... however, it seems to me that the object of all US elections is to get a 50/50 split in at least one part of Congress so that there is always an excuse for not getting anything done.
Redoing the census is ONLY ONE STEP toward fixing our elections; it is NOT sufficient to fix them and anyone saying it is shoukd be regarded with HIGH levels of suspicion..
Other necessary steps include:
clean voter rolls,
mandatory ids,
paper ballots,
small, precint-of-residence voting,
in-personal voting,
extremely limited mail-ins,
one-day voting,
hand counting,
and
arrests and stiff penalties for voter fraud and election fraud

In this case, JD was talking about the census. If I remember correctly, the census included a lot of estimates for the number of illegals because they might not return the form. And of course the democrats skewed the estimates in their favor.

What I heard was that all the low estimates were in Red states. Therefore why Vance is suggesting that Indiana Re-district. They could eliminate a few demand representatives. Likewise Texas and a few others.
The admittedly erroroneous 2020 census resulted in the Dems getting many more house seats than they deserve. Add to that the mass exodus from the same Blue states that recieved extra delegates and it becomes imperative to redistrict several states.
Part of the problem was the uniparty. The trade off was that everyone but a few got safe seats on both sides. Illegals gave the democrats the means to cheat in many ways. They were boiling the frog. But the frog has jumped out and is kicking ass.

Why in the doghell would we be estimating seats to give more representatives to states with a lot of illegal immigrants?
They can’t vote for those representatives.
It effectively gives a bigger voice to states who intentionally break the law.
Down the road it gives the lawless party leverage to advocate breaking the law further and nationalizing them because they’re “unrepresented”.
