Years ago, our son and his Cub Scout troop sang Christmas carols at a memory care nursing home. Our son was taking violin lessons so they asked him to play a few tunes. A nurse brought out a gentleman in a wheelchair and set him up front. His head was down and he just sat there during the Christmas carols. But when our son started to play a few simple fiddle tunes, the gentleman’s head started to slowly lift up to look at him. And then, his foot started tapping along with the music. It brought tears to my eyes to see how a little second grader could reach thru the fog in that man's brain and bring him back to life for just a few seconds with a simple version of a fiddle tunes. That man must have loved fiddle tunes at some point in his past.
