No, they do not control Newsom, yet. This is Newsom mocking Trump by releasing the same meme. Pure critical thinking using Occam's razor, the simplest explanation is the correct one. You have to do mental backflips to rationalize Newsom of all people being controlled by Trump at this point. You are correct though, this line of thinking is not hopium, just pure insanity, you have to ignore too much fact to rationalize this one, I suppose Soros is totally controlled too, and Obama, Brennen, Comey, and Satan himself, they are all controlled by Trump too, I suppose.

I believe White Hats leveraged control of Newsom after he (blatantly) cheated to beat the recall election. I'd imagine he was shown that "we have it all" and was forced to flip, like so many others (Rosenstein, Lynch, Ohr, etc).
