I've never had or used a VPN and I'm looking for real world experience from people more knowledgeable than I. I'm Canadian and I have a small Christian Youtube channel. Some weird things have been happening over here lately with it and I'm wondering about something... Would a VPN make it impossible for anyone (gov't included) to see where my channel originates from (country wise)? I already know it makes my internet activity impossible to follow. Any thoughts or help on choosing the best VPN will be greatly appreciated.

It may make it less likely, but nothing's 100% safe or effective on the internet
That's all fine and good. But John McAfee was doing all kinds of crazy spoofing and shit and he said they'd never find him. They found him. If there was some easy way for nobodys like us to completely hide our communications from everyone, then Trump and Elon wouldn't have had to build Starlink for secure communications (secure from the deep state). There's no fool-proof way to hide yourself, period, end of story.
Did they find him? Did they?
Kek. I see wut you did there.
You're right - I have no idea if they did or not. He might be alive and well, in Valhalla.
Nord has good reviews.
Protonmail has a free one, limited features.
If you setup your channel w/o a vpn they'd already have everything. You'd need to setup the channel using a vpn, then only login via vpn.
all vpn providers route through the same datacenters. just pick one.
ive used many providers in the past and the isp is always the same, m247 and datacamp being the bigger ones. do you honestly believe the providers or even the isp cant monitor the traffic? vpns that dont log can still see the traffic, they can see the actual source and destination ip. vpns arent meant for what most people try to use it for, in this case, anonymity.
go setup a cloud pc, configure it as a vpn, connect one of your devices and see how much protection you really have.
vpn provider != internet service provider. and im not talking about your isp.
youre trying way to hard to convince me vpns are anonymous. you are still at the mercy of those with physical access, thats why trust comes into play.
ps; my wife said hi
The best? By what measure?
That said: many VPN providers all route through the same datacenters, or hire servers with questionable parties.
Good enough for your regular Joe internet habits. If you want to go more exotic, there are some underground VPN providers. But ... you risk the chance of losing their service, if it turns out hackers have used them.
You can also research: i2p, tor, lokinet, and other privacy layers.
It all depends on your threat model, what you are trying to prevent. See, if you are on copilot infused type Operating systems, then VPN is not much help to you.
SO, I would first start critically assessing what you are doing, and build your infra from there. But absolutely make sure you move from windooz or forbidden apple to linux, and your ios/android shit to
lineage,e/ projectsor calyxos. And drop all those spy apps on your phone.Surf Shark
I've used NORD and Express VPN and I greatly prefer NORD for interface and other factors that I can't remember right now
I use private internet access otherwise known as PIA. I like it and check pricing as I found it cheaper than others and it works good.
I second this one. I use it and it is one of the most affordable, especially if you wait for/find a 3 year deal. I think I got 3 years for like ~$100 last time.
That said, Bongino used to run spots on the podcast for Express VPN. So, it must be pretty solid as well. Albeit, more expensive.
I'm a paid subscriber to both mullvad and proton.
Mullvad is not only no logs but also has the ability to be zero KYC at all, as you can also snail mail them cash or buy an activation card in cash.
Jahsun Tate, the experian whistleblower and former spook gives out a ton of free nuggets over on the gram.
Mullvad or Proton.
Never heard of Mullvad? It's because they don't do influencer advertising. They also don't lock you into long-term contracts or give you discounts for signing up for several years of service. Not to mention all the other things that others have mentioned.
What you (really anyone) should be doing is not using a PC that uses Windows. Move to Linux and get off Windows. The sheer amount of telemetry in Windows 11 is jaw dropping. VPN won't do you any good if what you're doing is still being monitored and sent off.
