It wouldn't be the first time a group of weirdos descended on a city at the same time to cause trouble. A whole pile of troublemakers came to Chicago for the '68 (I think it was) Democratic convention. They threatened the peace of the city. The mayor at the time, Richard J. Daley, issued a "shoot to kill" arsonists and "shoot to maim" looters order.
Not surprisingly -- it was a lot quieter than predicted.
Mike Royko used to refer to Richard J. Daley as "The Boss". That was an apt description because Chicagoans knew he meant what he said. If people rioted-- they'd be pushing up daisies. Whatever else you can say about "The Boss" -- he knew how to keep crazy people from destroying the city.
Modern politicians are far too concerned with what people "think". That's why these whack-a-doodles are causing chaos. Give them something to be afraid about and they'll stop.
"The Boss" knew this and somehow over the decades this has been forgotten.
Boulder Calirado has a protest planned for an overpass across a busy road. It’s one of those habitrail pedestrian bridges with chain link fence over the whole thing.
My idea is to get a few guys with measuring tapes and a few rolls of chain link and wire…once the blue hairs are all riled up yelling at cars we start measuring the end openings and putting up the chain link…caging them in.
Even if it didn’t go up it would be a fun exercise.
I’m working tomorrow so can’t do it. If anyone has time and wants a show in the Boulder area let me l ow and I’ll give you location details.
There is a reason why Chucky has insisted on holding off on trying to reopen the government until after the rallies. What is his angle? What does he know? Any ideas?

Maybe a few arrests. But nothing major.
