I don't really buy the idea that, "well the good guys are gonna do it instead, so it's gonna be totally fine," either. They'll tell you things like, "It's about justice, and accountability, so nothing like this can ever happen again," as they implement the systems used to enslave everyone for generations.

The same problem of "telling" v. "showing" happened with nuclear weapons (real or not, it was contrived theatre). You can tell someone all about how a nuclear weapon works. You can talk about the yield in tonnage. You can talk about mushroom clouds and invisible radiation etc.
But if you see a nuclear bomb explode, and you feel the ground shake from one single bomb twenty miles away, and you see the whole sky on fire, and witness people melting, etc., you will be incentivized to do whatever it takes to make the necessary change.
(Whether the bombs on Japan were really dropped or were faked is irrelevant. The fact that the real purpose of these bombs had nothing to do with WWII but was to create the Cold War is also irrelevant for this post. What's important is that people believed their Show. People still believe it, 80 years later, and it had the necessary society wide effect, because it was shown.)
WE THE PEOPLE will be the ones to make the change. The real power in this world is the people. It's not the corporations. It's not money. It's not gold. It's not AI. It's not nuclear bombs. It's not biological weapons. It's not the C_A. It's not the Government (any government). It's We The Fucking People. That is where ALL power resides.

Just a tidbit on "Texas Senate Bill 2420" - or the "App Store Accountability Act". Is this a bad thing? Do parents not do this anyways? I know I do with my children (have a younger-than-teen boy and a teenage daughter. So this law will require parents to approve any app they download and require that any new user that isn't 18 belong to a family group - so this isn't going to affect my family at all as we already self-conform to this. Not sure if I agree on mandating this, but at the same time I think parents are idiots if they don't do this themselves already. So from that angle I think its akin to protesting seat-belt laws back in the 90s - is it really a bad thing? Don't get all butt-hurt about my opinion here, I just happen to find one of the best way to keep your kids safe is to be involved in everything they are doing electronically and this offers some good guard-rails with that.

wrong read into it man - This is not the government in charge of the parental controls... its the government implementing safety measures that everyone should be implementing themselves. Like seat-belt laws in the 90s. If it were, however, the government then controlling what you as a parent can let your child install app-wise it would be a different thing, but it isn't that. I'm not particularly arguing in favor of the law, but just stating that it will have zero affect on my family as we already self-implement this same thing. Had a talk with my daughter about this as well - she laughed but also acknowledged she'd be installing some shady stuff if she didn't have to clear it through my wife and I :).
