Human Nature is to want to help the needy…
It’s called CHARITY… When individuals CHOOSE to help them, there’s a Blessing for those who Help and Gratitude from those Being Helped… When the Government gets involved and Demands the Helpers to Help, it causes Resentment, and those Being Helped become Expectant, Demanding, and Lazy, which is Exactly What We’re Seeing…
YES it is personal charity, delivered by real persons, who warm the heart of the recipient.
Leftists was the government to pay off the poor, so they don't have to do it personally.
Charity needs to be at the local level, with real personal contact. Those charities I support. I can't help my taxes being confiscated so that the left have a clear conscience by forcing the rule of law, to relieve them of their own personal responsibility to the poor.
It's not the governments job to tax the living fuck out of us and send the money to Ukraine, Israel, or waste it on a bajillion boondoggles and for lining the pockets of the politicians.
I think we as a group would be better off bitching about the bigger things our money gets spent on world wide than to chortle with glee that the genuinely poor are about to suffer while Zelensky is now in the top ten of US landowners...on our dime.
There are genuine abusers and I'd like them stopped, but a fat kid going without a soda and a potato chip might not be the hill to waste a lot of time on, let alone die on.
Among those "genuinely poor" are people who are multigenerational recipients of our hard earned tax money. NO ONE should be able to walk out of grocery store, with two full carts containing mostly junk food, or high priced items. Not the hill to die on? I'm taxed to the max, and the money I've earned is helping to support people who have no intention of ever working. I don't care if three hundred pound Junior can't eat for a while, and that goes for his obese mother as well.
Why? Before welfare, women would only accept sperm from a man who could support his children. Now they can lie with any low-life, KNOWING that Uncle Sam will provide. These women are not stupid: if Uncle Sam did not provide, they would only accept sperm from men who were worthy of a family, hence the standards would be raised among men who now just want to release sperm with no responsibility. Women can definitely control this situation, but with welfare, they simply do not have to bother . . . to the detriment of themselves, their children, their baby daddies, and all of WE TAXPAYERS!
I object to provide retirement. Americans paid into the social security system. Congress raided the fund.
I have 401k retire plan but the Congress raised the age to begin withdrawals from 70 to 73. Have to wait. I can only take emergency withdrawal as a LOAN & pay penalty fee. These were the options for retirement we had available.
Most of the people I see on the SNAP youtube videos can barely be understood because of their ghetto language, not sure if they can even spell their name. So the expectation that these people are going to be anything other than leeches on gov't largesse the rest of their lives is unrealistic. They may have an IQ of 80 and are simply incapable of operating effectively in an increasingly technological world. Not that I'm giving them a pass, but they have been raised to be dependent upon gov't by their families. I just don't see it changing much. I don't think this has a happy ending.
8a housing is about to be reformed. I hope they cut off the program where they put section 8 people into middle class homes in the suburbs with huge subsidies. While everyone is busting their ass to pay their mortgage they have to pay almost nothing on their mortgage and after 2-3 years they flip the house for a profit.
There are help wanted signs on every corner and stores can not man their staffs. END all 'welfare' and install 'work or starve'. The economy will go Brrrrrrrrrrrr.
This is EXACTLY why charity -- and pretty much EVERYTHING, really -- should be handled by civil society (i.e., the private sector).
Government incentives are literally upside down: When a bureaucracy FAILS, IT gets MORE MONEY to "fix the problem." Recipients of government money (including those who WORK for the government) are financially incentivized to keep programs that benefit them going and to ENLARGE those programs, regardless of whether the program does anything positive or not.
It isn't a good idea to cut people off from food as any student of history will tell you. That will get you more problems than financial concerns.
The most practical thing to do (in my opinion) is to take it out of the hands of individuals. So rather than issuing individual stamps (which can be and are abused) -- they should set up government run soup kitchens running 24/7 so that those in poverty can come in and have their meals. It won't be "convenient" -- but that's the point. Less convenience would be more incentive to stop playing the system.
Same thing with housing. Why do they need individual housing? A government run group dorm would be just fine. They make it "convenient" and that's how it becomes a lifestyle. ADDED BONUS: If you get them in a government run dorm you can have rooms for job training and education.
It's not only Democrats/liberals on food stamps. There are plenty of people here on this forum who have spoken openly about having to be on welfare and food stamps.
But of course everyone jumps in and defends them, saying that they were using it as intended, while those "other" people were abusing it.
I grew up in Mississippi and Alabama and I can tell you for a fact there were plenty of conservative/Republicans living on the system as well. It's not just a liberal/democrat thing.
People need to pluck the log out of their own eyes before blaming everything on the "other" side.
Don't believe me? Go look at which states have the largest number of welfare/food stamp/section 8 recipients per capita.
You going to try to argue AL, MS, LA, AR, etc... are full of liberals? Really?
I already said I do not think that people should be cut off with nothing. But you have to admit this "baby mama" culture is a huge drain on the system. Don't pretend it doesn't exist. I had a friend (now deceased). Her daughter did not turn out as she had hoped. She had 4 children with 4 different "baby daddies". This lifestyle was subsidized by the state. Her mother complained to me that her daughter's friends told her how to "milk the system" to get as much as she could.
Of those 4 children -- one is now grown with 2 children of her own by 2 "baby daddies". The others -- I am not sure what happened to because my friend passed on. But it seems it becomes a generational path unless it is stopped. And it need to be stopped by education, job training. And most importantly the culture of "baby mamas" and "baby daddies" has to stop. Two parent legitimate marriages should be the norm in this country.
Also, I apologize if you think I was singling you out. I meant to make that a reply to the OP, not you. I didn't even realize it until I stopped to wonder why you would think I was arguing against something you said and I went back and looked at the entire chat.
I'm not arguing that you're wrong there. Just that it isn't just a liberal thing. And plenty of conservative/republican "baby mamas" out there.
The issue is that we just turn a blind eye to it when it's amongst our own group. I've seen it happened time after time here. If someone here states that they've ever been on welfare or food stamps or section 8, people are just tripping all over themselves telling them how it's OK, that they were using the system as it was intended. Knowing absolutely nothing about their situation, just basing it on "oh, they're anons/MAGA/Republicans so they must not have ever abused the situation".
It's bullshit. And hypocritical. And anyone who has ever read more than three of my posts knows I can't stand a fucking hypocrite.
It's not going to change if we just all pretend that the only people on welfare/food stamps/section 8 are all liberals. Or if we all just assume that because someone shares one or two political ideologies that they're incapable of being scum sucking bottom feeders and living off the tax payers' teat. 🤷♀️
If most of them are cut off from food, they can live off the fat already on their bodies. I'm sure most have at least enough money for the basic foods for survival. Learn to budget, learn to cook, and stop buying empty calorie foods.
You do realize the French revolution was fueled by food shortages and the rising price of bread?
You can't cut people "cold turkey" off a system they have been dependent on their entire lives. You have to wean them off by giving them job training so they can support themselves before you cut them loose. Otherwise you'll have more problems than just financial issues.
Human Nature is to want to help the needy… It’s called CHARITY… When individuals CHOOSE to help them, there’s a Blessing for those who Help and Gratitude from those Being Helped… When the Government gets involved and Demands the Helpers to Help, it causes Resentment, and those Being Helped become Expectant, Demanding, and Lazy, which is Exactly What We’re Seeing…
Well said.
Government programs are always sold as Safety nets then they quickly turn into Hammocks

A good Education is a Wise investment in our Youth. Too bad they have hijacked it and are attempting Indoctrination instead..

You strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
Sadly the safety net has become a hammock
Seems there's an awakening going on regarding dependencies and trustworthiness to support dependency.
At many levels.
(Deception is Not dependable.)

"It's not the government's job to..."
A thousand more things.

A lot of Bonita's & EBTisha's are going to be mad.
Time to get the lazy fat asses off the couch and into the work force.

Time for them to lose that dependence. Don't care, I'm effing sick and tired of supporting the lazy, stupid, and illegals.

The cocky guy on Tik Tok saying, "Oh.... we'll eat one way or the other" I hope the "other" might be get a job and not to shoplift.

Social Security #'s were not to be identification either. But here we are.
