I was just thinking about it. What's some rogue judge gonna do? There's no money. Is a judge gonna order the executive branch to ignore the legislative branch?
That would be even more laughable and absurd than the crap they've already been pulling.
Judicial tyranny won't save you from this one, Dems!
HA HA HA
I think instead of snap, how about giving bags of rice, cheese, powdered milk, canned pork like they used to do ?
Food banks. They still exist and the concern is that they will be overwhelmed.
I volunteer at food distribution centers. Mostly thru churches. But the gov has their hands in it so there be rules. If someone grabs more than what is supposed to be given for the # it's for. Not a thing you can do. I've seen bitches go thru the sacks and grab what they wanted and take from multiple bags. It used to not be this way. They are not in need; they are leeches and animals. It used to be so fun to volunteer. It has become depressing. The last time I saw true gratitude was when the Soviets fell and the eastern Europeans came thru the Lutheran church.
In my area, the food pantries have volunteers that shop with the shoppers. I'll literally walk with them and count out every items up to their max. Or, it's done at the check out before they leave. Resources are limited, so the line is always that we're making sure we have enough for everyone to get what they need. We definitely get plenty who just flat out say "I don't like to eat that, so it's ok, I'll pass" on certain items. Those folks, I'm happy to help out with a little extra of what they do eat provided I have it that day/week.
I have also seen the abusers. Worst one was a fat lady who claimed to have a household of 6, loaded up the absolute maximum of everything, and made the volunteers carry it all for her out to her car. Get this! A Maserati. Used. But a freaking Maserati is what she drove up to the food pantry. I was fighting mad about that one. The lady who ran the place said to me with a completely straight face "you don't know her situation." I know she drove up in a damn Maserati when people who've got nothing and desperately need help walk home, Woman.
After a few shifts, I figured out pretty quickly who were the "regulars" and "shoppers" and who were the ones who really needed the help and were grateful for it. It was about 90% need, 10% abusers where I am at. Patterns definitely exist.
I feel you brother/sister , I use to volunteer in a church that I did not belong to as a cook and server. We fed thousands of Guatamalans and homeless and I did not care who or what or why, it was happy gratitude servitude. They were awesome and we kicked ass. Way before all this hub bub today with race and color. So what, it was Thanksgiving and Christmas and we all had that deal going on, smiles for miles and we could care less about the outside world. The good ol' days.
Where I'm at, they are being overwhelmed. They're getting absolutely obliterated right now. As soon as the food arrives, there are long lines to clean it out. Donations go very, very quickly. Red state, growing town, plenty of money being given to churches and charities, robust private system in place to help.
People forget that there is real need in a post-Biden, post-QE economy. The Fed has grossly devalued the dollar with its QE since 2008. Wages, especially at the low-skill end have not kept up with cost of living. Importing 20+ million illegals put a lot of people out of jobs. Even in high growth areas, the growing sectors of the economy are highly selective about who they hire because it's a buyer's labor market. In many industries, the employers lie, and still hire foreign because they're cheaper and their C-suite are full of Leftists who are still quietly pushing DEI and ESG goals.
There are a whole lot of "invisible" people barely hanging on who rely on that generosity, and who aren't abusing the system. There are a huge number of homeless who don't weigh 400lbs. There are a huge number of seniors and homebound people who rely on charities to deliver meals to them. I'd like to think we don't have "throw-away" people in our society, but we sure as hell do.
Far too many people are listening to the TikToks of a tiny handful of fat, abusive ...itches and thinking they represent all 40+ million on EBT. There's plenty of abuse, but it's a long ass way from the way it's being portrayed. It is helpful for people to see the abuse. That needs to stop, but it is not helpful to dynamite the whole program because we're all sick of Shaneekwa the Third-Generation Welfare Queen bragging about how she's robbing stores because she can't rob the taxpayer and use her Privilege(TM) credit card to pay for it.
People in my area, including me, are generous donors to food banks. I don't think anyone would mind putting a bit more into it. No one's going to starve. I'll donate things like flour, sugar, canned food (protein), and other necessities. If it's good enough for me to use these items, it's good enough for others.
This undermines the free market and is, quite frankly, disgustingly socialist. My giving people credit to spend, they can still make choices about what products are most appealing to them as consumers. If the government makes this choice and just buys whatever, it will favor some businesses and decrease competition.
NCSWIC!
The USDA was sued by 25 states yesterday over SNAP benefits running out.
Crazy. USDA is gonna be like lmao okay and we're gonna pay benefits with what money?
The issue is that the states are arguing that emergency funds intended for disaster relief should be utilized. USDA says that's illegal. Those funds are earmarked for disaster relief. Dems say their voters going hungry is a disaster.
They need to sue Congress.
I can see it now. "Federal Judge orders Dimocrats to vote for the CR because it will resume SNAP benefits"
YEAH! That's more like it!
Very nice observation.
SNAP is actually administered by the states, just financed by the feds. So the states would have to get their shit together too.
I think the Mob would take that bet.....
Haven't there been 2 lawsuits filed against Trump to force him to pay the benefits out?
Oh SNAP!
u/#catdance
So question elephant in the room, how are neighborhood drug dealers going to get paid if SNAP cards have a zero balance 💥💥💥
Judges these days seem willing to order anything they can think up to thwart Trump b/c orange man bad.
I can actually see some judge ordering the Administration to issue debt to fund, like, everything!
Oh, you underestimate what a rogue judge can rule.
Now THAT is some funny Shit ! Especially those knowing how hard I railed for people to get a f'n ham sanich ;-)
