I think it would be a good idea to get rid of all the junk food on EBT. Just have fruits vegetables meat. Have people verify who they are before they’re allowed to purchase these items. That way there’s no selling your food stamps card.
I'll give you the drug testing point. Unfortunately, the churches have dropped the ball on this one, and so have charities- and the government foolishly picked it up.
Frankly, the families, churches should just pick the ball back up now that the government has dropped the ball again.

No, the government started offering better options than the churches years ago. Churches weren't giving people copious amounts of money on a card that can be used for anything including crab legs and steak. They weren't giving up sodas and candy bars. They were giving out basic nutritional Staples.
The government also cant discriminate against people trying to abuse the system unlike churches.
The Democrats knew what they were doing. They were creating a class of voters dependent on them and their policies.
I'll remind you of this the same play also happened in education and healthcare. Colleges and hospitals were originally all started as Christian institutions.
"Rescue mission" = Christian (what do you think rescue means in that context? It's from the 19th century Evangelical revival) and almost all of them will have a statement of faith on their websites.
That clearly falls under the "Church" umbrella.
Also the majority of food banks are religious organizations which also falls under the umbrella of the church.
Our Rescue Mission here does have religious values.. they want people to stop doing drugs while using their services, offer Bible study, etc. But they are independent of any particular Denomination, iirc.
Our Food Bank does distribute through Churches as well... again, not Denomination specific.
I guess my point was there were other options that didn't necessarily involve having to establish a relationship directly with a congregation to get help.
I don't know why you got upset. I agree with your post. For years, I've been saying the gov shouldn't be doing that kind of work. The churches and local groups should. It's better for people and community.
I guess I could have mentioned other groups too that may do things like food drives or Thanksgiving boxes.. idk.. like schools, Lodges, the Police Association (though they give it to the Food bank to distribute here).
I didn't get upset. I don't know why you're saying that I did.
I also never mentioned any specific denominations so I'm not sure why you're making that straw man.
My position is simply that the church as a whole (meaning Christianity) started and runs the backbone of Charity in this nation and before the government took over it used to be almost exclusively responsible for charity from food banks to orphanages. (Back before it cost thousands of dollars to adopt a child by the way)
It also founded every major educational institution in the United States and hospital that's over 100 years old.
More tyranny is not the answer. Less government programs is the answer.
Until that time when we can end the need for welfare, we need to fix it.
Agreed
I agree the best answer is eliminating programs all together; but how is it “tyranny” to crack down on abuse of government programs?
Because it's all a fucking trap. Eventually, you'll have to sacrifice your first born to get any help at all.
And the real issue: the country shouldn't need government charity. Make the economy sound & let the lazy starve.
I think it would be a good idea to get rid of all the junk food on EBT. Just have fruits vegetables meat. Have people verify who they are before they’re allowed to purchase these items. That way there’s no selling your food stamps card.
Also provide receipts that you personally bought the food as to show you weren’t selling food stamps.
My supermarket scans my ID when I buy alcohol. That can easily be done
Drug testing doesn't work.
Most aren't on drugs and the testing is very expensive.
Just cut it all.
Charity is not the role of government

This is the playbook.
Touche'
There are also Rescue Missions and Food Banks.

Not sure what point you're trying to make here.

Ok, text can be hard for tone.. glad if you weren't upset.
I agree with your statement about the Church(es). I was simply saying there are other options out there for people, beside the government teat.
If you don’t contribute to society in any positive way, society doesn’t contribute to your pantry.
Get rid of it illegals Muslims and lazy people have the majority of the food stamps
Limit options to only whole foods.....it's that easy.
