Trump EPA Approves Its First ‘Forever Chemical’ Pesticide
The Environmental Protection Agency today approved the highly persistent pesticide cyclobutrifluram for golf courses, lawns, cotton, soybeans and lettuce. The pesticide is a “forever chemical” — one of a group called PFAS, or perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroa...
I disapprove of any inorganic pesticides. Really amazing how strong our systems are when they poison the air, water and soil.
Speculation as to why they would allow this? It sounds like more poison on our food and in our environment. Trump and RFK aware of these shenanigans?
golf courses, lawns, cotton, soybeans and lettuce
Just one step closer to the destruction of the planet for humans.
I'm a closet tree hugger. Climate change is horse shit but ecological destruction is real. This doesn't just go in us, it stays in the fields they spray it and affects all of the surrounding biome.
Same here. It's pretty stupid to poison where you live! Pretty disappointing to see this happening with the current EPA; it reeks of influence by the petrochemical industry, and is what gives "Republicans" a bad name. I try to tell people I am concerned about the environment, but don't worship it, and believe reasonable activities that affect the environment should be allowed, but this seems to cross the line.
They want us gone
As a farmer, if you aren't a good land steward, you wont be in business for very long. This includes protecting the soil, ground water etc. "Forever chemicals" is not a scientific term, its meant to cause fear as far as I'm concerned. Although persistence is a real thing depending on the chemistry. Soil biology is amazing and often overlooked. Microbes work wonders to break down pesticides, some take longer than others tho.
Even Round-Up, which is supposed to last only 6 months, actually lasts and kills for years. But weeds are coming along that are resistant. Some farmers in my area are having to go out into fields to find all these resistant weeds and pull them up before they reproduce. So far, they are keeping up, but that won't last long.
But I see huge fields that won't even grow weeds when there are no crops planted yet in the spring.
And it sounds like this stuff is FOREVER. That sounds horrible.
I wouldn't mind something that would get rid of stink bugs and the newest, Lantern Flys, or whatever they are called- I heard the Lantern Fly is one that eats plants and trees.
And animals
I thought the Trump administration was defanging the EPA?
Make it make sense, please.
Gee what could go wrong.
Oh dude i saw 'forever chemical testicle'. I need more coffee.
It's not the "Trump EPA," it's the "Nixon EPA" and full of the same criminals that haven't been fired yet. That's just one of the things Nixon put over on us back then.
