Its not. There have been great strides in recent years toward a sustainable reaction, which is the biggest hurdle to getting power from fusion.
Cold fusion is a pie-in-the-sky dream that would let things be powered like an iron man suit, or electric cars and stuff

The movie itself isn't bad, but it's not anything spectacular either. Val stole the show and owned it.
It's decent ~ a bit whimsical and corny at times, but entertaining.
