Why is Trump asking other countries for help with the Strait of Hormuz? We could do it, but Trump does not want the possibility of a lucky shot on one of our ships. For both political and war reasons. Don’t give the democrats anything and keep the mystic of our Navy.

Perhaps he is seeing who will help and who does not help. It may make the case to leave Nato if they do not have our backs when we need them. Just guessing here.
this was my exact thought as well, another trap-play and the snakes are taking the bait, imo
Agree.
He is showing the people for the world to see, I’m sure he knew they wouldn’t being Deep Cabal vassal states
I think that's a pretty good guess.
You know that Trump does not need any help here. Trump is setting up the reasoning for pulling out of NATO and Ukraine (only way to end the war there is for US to completely abandon Ukraine. Even if what we have right now is just options - even that has to go)
Also, Trump is exposing that the doctrine of Pan European Security thats part of the EU dogma to be flawed by showing that each country has different vested interests.
Additionally, this will be a great oppurtunity for other coalitions - like the Abraham accord countries, GCC etc - to learn how to take control of regional security.
In the long term if US wants to exit being the world police, everyone needs to be taught how to do it right in their own backyard.
Also, expose real friends and foes.
And of course, why waste more US billions if we can get others to do it.
I think it's the boomerang to get Western Europe to abandon Ukraine. See my other comment.
Sound reasoning. I agree.
By asking for their assistance. He’s politically legitimizing the U.S taking defacto control of the strait. There’s a reason they’re sending 2,500 Marines and amphibious assault ships in.
The U.S is going to occupy the Oil Terminal at Kharg Island. Potentially several other islands in the region. But Kharg definitely.
Which gives the U.S defacto control over Iranian Oil. And all traffic in the strait. And Kills Chinas attempt to start denominating oil sales in Yuan.
And it also forces other Chinese Belt & Road partners in the region to reevaluate their partnerships. As it’s a massive sign that China can’t protect them.
It’s part of the Financial aspect of the U.S-China Cold War gone hot. Iran was the excuse.
I don't know about Kharg just yet - but no doubt that card is on the table. However, the immediate problem is that 5-10% imbedded along the Western Iranian coast that can still cause big problems in the Straight. Also, these forces have to be dealt with before we plant ground forces on Kharg and make them targets. Iran spent 40 years preparing for exactly what we have been hitting them with. This however, they did not prepare for.
Why the US Navy Rushed USS Tripoli to the Strait of Hormuz
Interesting. I guess we'll find out if it swings the balance. I would have thought that the land bases in SA and agreements to deploy in Oman or Bahrain would've given us similar capability, but ...
This amphibious force has many different ways to approach this that the Iranians did not prepare for. They were prepared for anything that comes from the sea - not all the possibilities that this Marine force can deliver. This is not just a force multiplier - it is a different battle strategy all together. This will be their first real combat test. God's speed to them all.
Amen!
Yeah this. The USA will have exhausted all options and requests for help, so once forced to do it ourselves….we can come in full force with de facto TOTAL occupation and CONTROL. Best for optics
I don't think it's about NATO. America wasn't attacked so article 5 isn't triggered. And it's easy to explain not assisting another nation's aggression, which is how the anti-Trump faction is portraying it.
I'm thinking it will be used to direct popular anger away from Trump and towards European leadership once the European petrol prices skyrocket. It cements the blame. They'll be fighting mad at their "elected" officials at insane petrol prices, just like Americans were mad at Carter because of the gas lines.
The anger can also be the lever to turn the Ukraine situation around, as the Euro nations could get plenty of Russian oil and gas today, except for their self-imposed, self-righteous sanctions against Russia to support Ukraine. This is when the story of Ukraine sabotaging the NORD pipeline comes back, and the way to cheaper energy for Europe is clear: drop Zelensky and warm up to Russia and the US.
Very interesting, you might be right about the Europe
It was a test.
