EPA Fortifies Domestic Fuel Supply, Provides Americans with Relief at the Pump by Approving Nationwide E15 and Removing Boutique...
EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, in consultation with DOE and in accordance with the Clean Air Act (CAA), issued a temporary emergency fuel waiver to allow nationwide sales of E15 and E10 gasoline ethanol.
E15 will burn faster and it will evaporate faster during the summer months. They are pushing something that will do damage to older vehicles, gas powered mowers and other gas powered items people have. But hey, when you want the American people to give up all of their gas powered vehicles and work tools then what better way to make them think, "It broke and now I have to buy something new." I cannot and will not use this in any of my vehicles because I don't want to be forced into something new. What a ploy!!!
What years are included in the definition of older cars?
I'd guess when you vehicle qualifies for Antique designation it probably fits into the older category.
😂 But what if the driver qualifies for Antique designation? 😉
LOL good question and relevant to me.
My husband says 80's and before model cars and sports cars need less ethanol in the fuel. We have to go and get ethanol free gas already for one vehicle, our mower, weed eater, and chainsaws. The tractors run on diesel so we are good in that perspective right now.
Anything that doesn't have a plastic gas tank.
Thank you. I had no idea that plastic gas tanks made ethanol use ok. I thought it would be engine design. I appreciate the info!
Abolish the epa
They aren't helping Americans
They are a big fucking burden
This is a bad idea.
So was E10.
Some gas stations have pure gasoline in a separate pump specifically for farm and lawn equipment and older vehicles. Search one out in your area; the gas will cost more but for older cars and non-vehicle equipment it may be worth it.
Referring to Ethanol Free?
That's a good description and it might be the official designation in some places; I don't know. I don't remember exactly what it's called at the gas station where I see it.
Ethanol is not an environmentally friendly fuel... unless you simply ignore the total environmental cost of making the Ethanol.
E-15 Ethanol will Not hurt older cars. It's all a farce. I dug into ethanol deeply in the mid 2000's. I am a farmer who raises corn myself. Henry Ford's first car was designed to run on ethanol, but an investor told him he had to change it to gasoline as he produced kerosene and gasoline was another product to refine after kerosene was made. The difference in the 2 cars is 100% ethanol requires a higher compression motor. It burns hotter, faster and more completely. The engines today are lower compression and don't get as good of mileage from higher blends of ethanol. I myself have run E30 in non approved ethanol vehicles and know scores of people who ran higher blends in older vehicles as well. Ethanol is a replacement to oxygenate the fuel that is better for the environment the the benz....(forget the name). It releases less carbon monoxide and particulate matter than gasoline. Don't believe the lies of big oil! Ethanol is good for you, the environment, farmers and America!!! The remaining cake after ethanol is created is a highly digestable feedsource for cattle. It is more easily digestable than corn or silage, so it allows cattlemen to feed less rations to their livestock as well. Win, Win!!
I disagree with the whole idea of diluting petrol/gasoline with ethanol. However I have to accept there is nothing I can do about it and was worried when E10 was mandated here in 2021. Surprisingly my 2004 Volvo runs better on E10 than on the previous E5. Theoretically it should still run on E15 but that seems a long way away at this time.
