We have pretty much stopped eating out or meeting up for drinks - even a great place has to use cheaper (unhealthier) ingredients and fewer servers to make any money. It is just too expensive for us to do anymore. Our friends and family agreed,so we all invested in 3 costco long tables as a group and alternate homes for celebration dinners where people bring their own meat, drinks and veggie dish and the host makes up a couple sides and dessert for all. It is a lot of fun and we see people much more often in a relaxed setting. The kids and grandkids can run around and their parents bring food their kids will eat. Much less waste and $$$.
And by "host" do you mean hostess? Is the man of the house really the one in the kitchen whipping up sides and dessert? No? So the wife gets to cook, clean and watch the kids. Not really a night off for everybody in the family is it?
Wow. Maybe we are just weird people but we all share the prep, getting ready and clean up duties. The kids are not spoiled hellions and watching them is up to their parents. Believe me, if the wives didnt enjoy it as much as the men - it wouldnt happen. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea - works for us.
I now wonder if the ābutterā they serve with a baked potato or other items is the same frankenfood inflammatory soy mixture minus the sweetener and cinnamonā¦yuck.
You're right we don't know. Next time you order a baked potato ask if it's real butter or some fake crap. It will be surprising if the wait staff even knows.
We were going to go to a local restaurant recommended by a friend. I checked the menu and they feature āChilean Salmonā as if that is some excellent salmon. It turns out that Chilean Salmon is all farm raised and feed tons of antibiotics and corn pellets for food. The fish have NO Omega 3 oils but is loaded with omega 6.
Itās all about how cheap can they make your food.
Yes, it's true. Texas Roadhouse serves a "honey cinnamon whipped buttery spread" (sold in stores like HEB under their brand) with ingredients: soybean oil, water, honey, palm oil, palm kernel oil, salt, cinnamon, soy lecithin, and more. No dairy butter or cream appears on the listāit's an oil-based spread, not real butter. Copycat recipes use actual butter for the homemade version.
No kidding! Just mix up your own at home and bring with you... or just cook at home, lol. My husband is going to gross out when I tell him about this š
Good question! Who really knows š¤·āāļø I'd say if you are going to eat out and you want some honey butter on your rolls, make your own at home and bring with you. That way you know what's in your honey butter. Of course, the best way to somewhat know what's in your food is to cook at home. (I say somewhat because we don't know what manufactures are actually putting in our food, even ones that say organic)
I never eat out. I'm a single old dude and I do all my own food prep and cooking. Yeah it takes time but it will save you money and improve your health if you know what foods are good for you and what foods are not š

And, gives you the chance to control what kind of food you're ingesting (i.e., organic and or not bio-engineered franken food)
Exactly - and people can accomodate their own gluten free, dairy free, special diets without worry.
1 stick salted butter at room temperature, 1/4 cup powdered sugar, 1.5 Tablespoons honey, 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon - can add a bit of vanilla too.
good stuff
NO SEED OILS FOR ME!!!!

Now check their bread.

When you go to Texas Roadhouse they bring you bread with their famous honey butter
There is no butter in the honey butter
āYou're not gonna believe what's in hereā
I also verified this, no dairy butter or cream appears on the ingredients list. This should be illegal

How much you wanna bet the bread contains bioengineered ingredients?
Wouldn't be surprised tbh.
Time to bring our own Irish butter, local honey and real cinnamon! š§šÆ
No kidding! Just mix up your own at home and bring with you... or just cook at home, lol. My husband is going to gross out when I tell him about this š
I just told mine..he said, Really? šø
Is it actual honey?
Most store bought āhoneyā isnāt actual honey anymore. Even some brands that say (pure & raw) are just sugar.
I always get it at the farmers market. Amish honey when I can.
Which is why I buy local wildflower honey

Quit eating out and you won't have that problem.
I ate out for a birthday yesterday and it was $80 plus tip for 3 meals and soft drinks with one appetizer. Plus tip.

Damn it. Thatās one place we still used to go. Used to be able to toss peanut shells on the floor.
Someone likely complainedā¦
