I'm currently thinking that only about 30% of our federal budget goes to needed uses. The other 70% is skimmed off the top in some sort of fraud or grift. Look at Little Somalia in Minnesota. Hundreds of Learing Centers and not one kid is being taught anything. Millions, if not billions, gone. PUFF, like magic pixie dust, it is gone and nobody in authority seems to care.
Somehow this does not seem to outwardly bother President Trump, so I can onky presume that he knows about it, has all the receipts, and is patiently waiting for the proper time to drop the hammer on the ones who are responsible for watching iver the distribution of the funds.
So, if I am correct, then our federal budget might just get reduced by around 70%. Then Americans wont have need of the IRS, we can keep the vast majority of our hard earned money, and maybe if there is money left over from the tariffs we might be getting a check to help us along. (Personally I'd love a thousand or two additional bucks in my checking account every month).

Catherine Austin Fitts is another person that has participated in audit activities in Washington. She was the Federal Housing Commissioner and U.S. Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President George H.W. Bush. She estimates that the fraud and theft of taxpayer money totals $20 Trillion to $25 Trillion dollars!
This situation gets more infuriating because the people who stole this money are charging U.S. tax payers interest on the money STOLEN FROM US! The interest expense on this fraud in JUST 2026 will be >$1 Trillion! Think about it: Someone steals your car then charges you for the the full price of the car, the maintenance, and gas for that car!
Solution: If ALL of the U.S. outstanding debt is due to theft, then should it be written off as an uncollectible expense? The rules of accounting state that when an expense becomes uncollectible, then it should be recorded as a loss and written off.
"Fraud vitiates everything". With that being said, when we find that the $34T debt is ALL fraud, will we have to pay it back? Or will we tell the big banks and corporations who are holding US Bonds to go and suck it? Plus, if the United States has been turned into a corporation , we can just simply file bankruptcy on the debt and tell all our enemies who are holding our US Bonds to also suck it.

K cars were cool, until you realize they were a turd shaped like a motor vehicle. Iacocca had an idea, build a dependable car cheaply and sell it to the dumbed down masses. He did quite well at Chrysler. But people got very tired of driving a box on wheels.

I think your estimate is reasonable, could be a bit more, but I think unlikely to be less than 70%. NGOs (and congress critters) have basically been raiding the treasury for decades, with the number of NGOs and the amounts they grub constantly climbing.
I was going to be conservative and say 60%, but in my heart, and many of yours, I know it's in the 70-80% range
I for one, could use a portion of Ilhan Omar's few million (like say a million, not much, as much as she said she has) these people talk too much.
If half our money goes to taxes and businesses are charged half of their monies in taxes then it would make sense that without taxes we could purchase twice the amount and business could charge half as much therefore quadrupling our purchasing power!
Just think of all the ACTUAL welfare that could be done through churches and legitimate non profits.

I have been thinking more along the lines of 50%, but the more that comes to light the better your 70% number looks.
