The incumbent mustered up help from his fellow Dems at the state house and suddenly they "need" to redraw (gerrymander) the district lines to shove the republican into a different district 6 months before the election.
The Republican is determined to stay in the race, so he decided to rent a small apartment downtown since his actual house was only a 1/4 mile from the town border.
He points out their dirty tricks in his campaign ads and somehow he loses the election by less than 200 votes.
Later on, his marriage falls apart, his local business is hit with odd legal problems and his "perspective" on town matters change.
