Moral of the story is? All parts of our governments from county's , city's, state's, all the way to the top, are filled with corruption! They are just more blunt about it now. We are all tax donkeys , and they just keep giving us the finger! It will not stop until there are severe consequences. Since our governments are in on the graph , that means never.
I swear I see a story like this twice a day or more these days. And nobody ever goes to jail for it. This is beyond criminal. I couldn’t steal a whole dollar without getting beaten to death by the book and this type of injustice is a daily occurrence.
Everyone here is missing whats right in the tweet - out of the $225million, they only allocated $3 million for home repair.
THATS the problem. They arent openly claiming that the 225 mil was split between 8 homes, they are saying that 3 million was used to repair 8 homes
They should have allocated more towards home repair; not disputing that, but its almost like none of you looked before commenting things like "28 million per home????"
Even IF they could use 100% of that $225M grant toward repairing the damaged homes that can be viably repaired, or rebuilding those that were completely destroyed or written off as lost by their insurance companies (those that haven't fled the area, that is), it would only amount to an average of $19,585.65 per home. And since "economic revitalization" means giving damaged or destroyed business in the area a part of that grant money, the actual amount of money going to the homeowners and renters would be significantly less due to the fact that commercial construction is significantly more costly than residential because of the stiffer bldg codes associated with commercial properties, utilities, and road infrastructure.
The final amount given to the citizens would probably be less than $5K per household, maybe less.
We MUST HAVE a complete and total restructuring of this society in all ways and views. It's the only way to ensure we can take care of each other properly. And I'm not talking about resorting to Communism. This is more of a social and issue than a political or corruption issue.
With the amount of money we are wasting on everything, we could easily feed, house, properly educate, and support EVERYONE in this nation, legal citizen or otherwise. But the longer we sit around and wait for someone else to save us or fix the issues for us, the more damage we allow to be done to ourselves, and the longer it will take to fix and heal this broken society.
Over 28 million dollars per house. That’s some graft.
It has been my contention since the mid-1970s that the entire governmental apparatus, from the cop on the beat, through all jurisdictions, is irredeemably corrupt. The “innocent” government agents who stood by and did nothing are guilty of misprision, the most under reported crime, along with perjury.

Unless there is proof I am wrong, I believe all taxpayer money is either spent fraudulently, or incompetently, and probably both.
