Why isn't there anything here about POTUS' reversal on Chinese nationals buying up farmland? And please, one of you smarter frogs, explain to me how this is a good thing? To my smooth brain this seems like a complete betrayal of a core campaign promise, but I am open-minded and willing to be convinced. Not dooming, God wins, just curious.

Land Surveyor here, and I have NO horse in this race. I've surveyed MANY farms between '04 & 2016 that were purchased from local land owners and sold to various hedge funds. Our "farmers", the people that plant, irrigate and harvest rarely still own the land. They lease it. Beyond their skill in knowing how, they're basically heavy equipment operators and local banks enjoy the financing for their near constant roll-over of equipment. (John Deere is most certainly a player here). Insurance companies and teacher/fire-fighter/county and state government retirement funds "hold" the land for the growth in value and are simply land lords who lease the land to farmers AND recreational hunters, fishers, skiers, ATV riders etc. If those hedge funds have majority Chinese ownership; it's said "the Chinese own it! Well, that's as much true as YOU are an "owner" of Microsoft because of your 401k. It's LAND. One CAN NOT load it up and haul it away. If China acts screwy, we can just plant crops on it without their involvement. Pi$$ on 'em. (U.S. contract law is a thing, but National Security is too). Now, failing to police their ownership activities is OUR failure. Banning their ownership isn't the way in a free market. 2 cents.

I paid off my mortgage. But I am listed as a tenant on the deed. Probably only the Rothschilds actually own land in this country.
So then nobody you know has ever owned land and everyone, including Trump, is mistaken when they say they own property or land. And out of the one or two hundred or so Rothchilds living today, a few of them own land in this country. I wonder why Trump doesn't know this information. And if he does, why doesn't he care?

I’m not for any property being sold to foreigners . China double so. There are very few countries that allow foreigners to buy properties.
Our perception of what a farmer is and what is actually going on are not the same.

Actually option 2 is very interesting. If Trump is planning on seizing Chinese assets, wouldn't it be convenient if those assets are placed within reach? Seizing a factory or even gold bars locked away in Chungking is far more difficult than taking a million acres close at hand that they already paid for and can't defend.

I can’t burn on my property during a county wide “burn bad.” My land is “policed” for what I can and can’t do with it or on it. A land owner should be able to sell to the highest bidder period. What is then done on it can and is controlled. This “outrage” is contrived and distracting.
Hmmm...I will push bach slightly. If folks live in a city or tightly packed rural environment, then neighbors need to take into consideration how their yards look. Why would a good neighbor want to constantly see your rusted hulk of a 1990 Dodge pickup truck in your front yard? Either put it in the driveway or get rid of it. But if you live a mile down a country dirt road with no neighbors, then pack as many junk cars on your front yard as you want.
Yes, there are responsibilities that come with land ownership and our neighbors deserve considerations. I used the "burn ban" as an example that ones land WILL be policed, taxed, regulated, etc., and in the event China, or someone from China owns it (The subject of this thread), they too must meet the requests, demands, regulations of the local authorities. People say "ban selling land to China." Well, does that mean to ANY Chinese person, or to a hedge fund owned in majority by Chinese investors, or just ban the selling of the land to the Chinese government, or all 3? Again, my concern is primarily with the rights of the seller.
Some here take a couple of Q's ("necessary disinformation") drops to mean that China is our "secret fren."
So then perhaps they think the Chinese are buying up land all around our military bases to protect said bases during the storm, when the SHTF.

Do Anons understand the relevance of the fact that the Great Wall of China, as it were, was built to contain something from China. Complete with archer ports facing China and entrance ramps on the opposite side.

• Has not bought up (often barren/useless) land near our military bases.
