Los Angeles, CA is absolutely the headquarters for star-following, PC indoctrination, and group thoughtcrime enforcement. The local paper has a history of editorials that seriously talk about things like outlawing the R party or "can you be friends with a Republican?" even before Trump and MAGA. The crazies have been entitled, enabled, and empowered here longer than anywhere else in the country. With so many around, regular people do guard their language just to avoid triggering them. But it's more like letting sleeping dogs lie than being embarrassed.
There is a different ad that focuses on the women, and that one seems accurate to me, but the one with the guys exaggerates the pansy factor. But it still works as an ad, because it's a real thing
It's a great ad because I imagine that's what it's like telling somebody else you're voting for a republican in LA. I like how it takes on the narrative about him staying in the Bel Air hotel...because his house burned down.

Can confirm, people talk about the city being a shit hole all the time, but saying you're MAGA or Republican is like a no-no, but you can talk around it by bringing up anti-blue positions. Not sure about the women circles since I'm out of that loop right now.
