Millennial Who Grew Up In The 1990s Says Boomers Don't Understand 'We're Working 3 Times As Hard For A Third Of What They Had At...
For many millennials, the economy can feel like a game of musical chairs where previous generations already grabbed the seats, refinanced them at 3% interest and now insist there are still plenty left if younger people would just "budget better."...
To further add, I worked two to 3 jobs my entire life to make ends meet, put food on the table for 5 mouths and keep a roof over their head untill I was 46 and landed the job I currently have. Millennials want everything up front. News flash.....life doesn't work that way. And no, I'm not a boomer. I missed that bracket by 4 years. So sick of the current up and comers that want $25/hr to work at fucking McDonalds. Give me a break. Fucking whiners chap my ass
Yup, ate a lot of canned spam when we first married.
Oatmeal, top Ramen and eggs here!
T-bone steaks, foi gras, chicken cordon blue, and other delicacies were my staple food sources. Not that I'm older I just cannot afford even a jar of peanut butter. Thanks, Uncle Joe!
lol the McDonalds beside my old worksite Pays 21 an hour to start and the workers take long breaks to smoke weed on the front sidewalk. Service and the food sucks. That Happy Meal brainwashing is strong. Many young folks eat that crap every meal
Not to mention they can't get an order right
Note: In the Philippines the workers make around 10 bucks a DAY and give better customer service. Food quality is marginally better, and better presentation.
A large drink, large fries, rice, and 2 pieces of chicken 6.25. Burgers were out of stock so I couldn’t use that as a price gage.
Some kept telling them not to give EVERYONE a TROPHY , REALITY can be hard.
"the economy they voted for"
I don't remember voting for the fed
Ya, me either. 22-26 years if democratic leadership. Loving it.....NOT
We get what we deserve.
Deserve Better or "Be Best" if you prefer.
Oh for Pete's sake, cry me a river. I put myself through college in the 70s making $2.00 an hour. Yes, a basic house cost 20,000, but that was far out of my reach on my wages. This BS is another attempt at DS division, I love the Millennials and don't believe this is truly the way most of them feel. It smells to me of Deep State propaganda. Race isn't working so now let's pit the youngsters against the oldsters, the haves against the have nots. Deep State needs to get a new plan, they keep bringing out the same, old stuff. It used to work, but the majority are now onto them.
It’s all of those.
They’re not being guided or walking properly, and there are a lot of problems in the economy, and they’ll always try to push division.
it's somewhere in the middle.
Yes they are complaining and don't realize how bad their predecessors had it.
But, if you look, wages definitely have not kept up with inflation. Rent has far outpaced wages, college tuition has outpaced even inflation, etc.
I work with a guy who is 30, he's young enough to be my kid. He is a professional, worked his way into a position through his skill and hustle that he isn't really qualified for on paper but excels.
His wife has a government job that pays decent but she doesn't really like.
They have 2 small kids and the wife would rather stay home with them.
They are renting a small house from a relative, and would love to get something bigger.
They were looking for properties before covid and decided to save for another year or 2.
Bam. Now they're screwed. Anything suitable is about 100g too high.
Are they screwed though? yes, in a way.
Is it self inflicted? In a way- timing, being too picky, maybe not thrifty enough? Perhaps.
Is it also due to circumstances beyond their control? I would say so.
50 years ago a young family in their situation would be able own property that suits them by now, IMO.
Boomer here. Let me throw this out for consideration. We lived at home with the family until the day we got married. None of the guys I knew had apartments after they graduated college. They went back home. Neither did the girls. What we saved by not shelling out monthly rent went into a nest egg that started out our married life.
All these kids nowadays pay exorbitant amounts for rent and wonder why they have no money left to start married life out with a cushion.
I lived through a similar period. God always supplied my need.
Yes He does. Everytime
