My current theory is a little different. I think the CIA and NASA may have created a backup film (Kubrick) of the Moon landing in case the real mission failed, so the U.S. wouldn’t lose face in front of the world. I watched it LIVE on tv and it was in the middle of the Cold War with Russia. If it was fake Russia would have blown the whistle. They were humiliated by the US getting there first so there is NO DOUBT in my mind that they would have not let it slide.
After watching the Why Files episode on the moon landing I can say AJ thoroughly debunked all the claims of it being faked. I was for years on the side of it being faked, but I also chose not to seek out counter explanations. If you haven't watched it I highly recommend that episode.
