They didn’t adapt to the constant pressure defense. And the second goal by Belgium team 60 seconds after our score took the wind out of our sails and we never recovered.
The Belgium team should be thankful for Trump. Otherwise, the match would have a giant asterisk next to it. We wouldn’t forget and we wouldn’t let them forget.
I agree that this isn't some conspiracy. The team just simply did not play well, and lost to a more skillfully mature team. Team USA looked like nervous children out there.
Last night’s game was eerily similar to the friendly match team USA played against Belgium back in March. When you look at both of those games together, it looks like we are clearly outmatched by team Belgium.
I think Balogun should have sat. I'm greatful he didn't. But it relieved the pressure and the desire to give FIFA a big middle finger. Took that envious drive out of our team. I watched the entire match in disappointment. Was not the same team I've been watching all along. Hopefully lessons learned and we will be better prepared for 2030
being 64 now, I kind of hate to hear people say we will be better prepared for 2030. I might not be around for that. and how many others will definitely not be around for it? many on the USA team this year will NOT be on the team by 2030....
That's a strange take. I think it was just good pressure defense that shut us down. Back line has always been an issue, relatively weak compared to many other teams.
It is a strange take, I agree. I have seen sports leagues registered as "entertainment" categories. I have seen conspiracies that are no longer just theories. Corruption is rampant and being exposed now. Liberal thinking is self-immolation, FIFA is global, hosted by America in liberal Seattle (last night), Belgium is part of DS EUROPE, TRUMP is at NATO today and humiliating America is on the table. Yes, strange now seems new normal 😂.
I too believe it is scripted. So "just good pressure defense" is only a surface defense. But the script never explains itself, it just happens in the background. What I mean is that on the surface, none of the players really care about the politics when the game is in play.
Scripting a game only requires active script adherence from a few strategic individuals - the majority of the players are sincere. When they get too close to learning how things are arranged behind the scenes they get cycled out if they don't want to play along. So I'm just saying that in this game, the sincere players on the US side got rolled over and humbled by better controlled play. If the story comes out that politics played with the US team's morale, I'll be surprised.
Great analysis u/Mr_A ! Agree that "it" only takes a few key players to make a situation happen. Who knows? I was watching a strange lack of engagement, someone else said our team was timid and I agree with timid. But...why timid? When is 'lackluster' or 'timid' intentional? In sports, that suggestion is taboo.
We finally watched and tried to get into the spirit and then, watched our players give up the ball, stay in the back field when they were supposed to go forward , and etc...very lackluster. The coach KNEW SOMETHING. I wonder if because Trump asked for a red card review, and all the hubbub, our players wanted to lose? TDS on overdrive?
When a world-class team, playing on home turf in front of a screaming crowd who loves them, suddenly forgets how to play and just kind of stands around and makes mistakes for most of it -
reminiscent of that vietnamese game where one team stopped playing
(In February 2017, during a V.League 1 match between Long An and Ho Chi Minh City, the Long An team stopped playing to protest a controversial late penalty awarded to the home side. After initially walking off the pitch, goalkeeper Nguyen Minh Nhut turned his back for the penalty kick, and the entire team subsequently stood motionless, allowing Ho Chi Minh City to score three additional unanswered goals to win 5–2. )
I have never watched soccer (football) but I did watch some of the game. Not knowing anything about it here is what I saw
USA timid, not confident at all.
Other team looked the opposite, when they got the ball they got busy
Our guys when they had the ball just passed it a lot, no aggressive play.
Looked like a high school team against pros
As I said I know nothing but that's how it looked to me.
That's the same thing we saw too. Very weird. That's why I suggested the coach's outburst wasn't so much the other team scoring..it was his own players tanking...It was like our players held back.

Contaminating sports stats with the good ole' asterisk ...does suck. I see conspiracies in losing a game now days... That sucks.. 😞
I think it’s much simpler than that. Team USA’s coach lacked a winning strategy and the inability to adjust during the game.

We're our players tired or intentional?

I no longer just see a sports competition, unfortunately.

The TDS crowd wanted team USA to lose because Trump helped delay the one game suspension.
Glad Trump didn’t say breathing air is good.

we all know exactly what happened and why.

I don’t follow.
