This has gotta be the worst Air Quality I've ever seen, by a long shot. I've never had my eyes burning from poor AQI before. And I probably won't be able to get out to going to work tomorrow unless the whole site is shut down (veeeery unlikely).
And the whole state is supposed to be twice as bad in the morning! Ugh!
We won't get it in California because the state banned secondhand smoke. 🚭 Just like guns.

Northern Nevadan here. When California has bad fires, the smoke and ash descends upon us. Work and school rarely get canceled due to hazardous air.

N-95 mask?
I'm asthmatic and use an N-95 during fire season when our air turns "hazardous"
Some folks say that breathing through a wet bandana helps. I tried it once and it is definitely preferable to breathing in the smoke but I prefer the N-95.
I know it sucks in the summer heat but keep the a/c in your car on recirc. If the smoke and ash lasts more than a week, check and change your cabin air filter.
At home I just don't use a/c. One reason is I don't have a way to filter the air. The second is I live in an apartment and they do not clean the vents/ducts not even after a really bad fire season and there will be lots of ash in there.

Well, you are a stronger person than I could be, I suppose. I'm used to clean air in Ohio so when it's this bad (>200 AQI tomorrow) I'm a little panic-y.
No need to panic. Although I'll grant you a panic if the AQI reaches into the 400-500 range b/c it is very hard to breathe and your eyes will burn like crazy. Hopefully at that point your governor will declare a state of emergency.

Me too but it didn't smell like campfire or wood burning. It smells like lead or some kind of electrical burn mixed in with wood. Odd smell but breathable, at least for me.

It's very hazy and the air quality is already bad. My daughter was up at Lake Erie yesterday and it looked like a bad fog ... then that smoke smell showed up at my house (central OH) last night. This morning is worse.

I was out mowing my yard in that stuff. My wife had to take her 94 year old mother to a doctor’s appointment. By the time I was done, I felt like a lifetime smoker.
