I know most of y'all aren't Soccer fans but Trump sort of called out Infantino publicly about "his team winning". We also had shall we say quite a few officiating decisions that were very fortunate for Argentina. The fireworks at the final were Argentina's colors.

Very interesting... someone we were watching the game with also said, "looks they thought Argentina was going win" Perhaps the outcome was not what was planned by FIFA
It certainly looked like it was rigged for Argentina. Then ironically, they took Silver. What their Country is named after.
First, answer your question I don’t think he did un rig the World Cup
I think almost all major sports predetermine what outcome will most enrich their syndicate. There is no way the FIFA World Cup is any different. The objective is to keep the biggest spending fan bases in the mood to keep up their spending levels.
Having Argentina in the final probably made financial sense, but having them win back to back Cups didn’t. So, maybe they received some help from the officials along the way, but from what I saw of the game yesterday, what they got from the officials was the opposite of help.
I have heard for years that FIFA is one of the most corrupt organizations on the planet, and that the World Cup is a gigantic event for human trafficking.
Not different from NFL's Big Game (except only in unnerving bigger scale).

Some big wigs LOST a lot of money! Kek
I watched 100 minutes on, and I saw weak non agressive actors trying to play fake an injury more so than an agressive bad ass trying to score. On more than one occasion, traditonally the goalie takes posession of the ball while his men travel downfield for a long field kick delivery. . . Instead, the ball was rolled out into traffic floundering opportunity to attack on the opponents side of the field. And worse its giving your defender the ball mere yards away still in scoring distance to dribble 40 yards into scoring position ?
That said, Argentinas goaltender was on paper very effective, but from what I saw, there was NO FIRE. Not warriors competing to win $50 million dollars. The Ref looked like more counselor, ringleader than boss. That last red card was pathetic. The slo mo 'injuries' were pure embaressment for the sport. Too much soy and not enough growler pints that the Rugby MEN drink.
edit to clarify goaltending beef
Soccer players flop as bad as Lebron James
Rugby for the win! Those compilation videos of Rugby vs Soccer never disappoint.
So glad my brother got me into the sport during the last year I was qualified to play at a college level.
No. Argentina deserved to win. I watched the whole tournament. They didn't cheat. They are just a great team that knows how to play. So someone started a smear campaign against Argentina. And many people started to believe that false narrative and suddenly started hating Argentina. Hmm does it remind you of something or someone? The referee was corrupt and he was favoring Spain the whole match. If anybody was rigging the World Cup final it was Spain.

FWIW, according to the decoding symbols guy, in the comms world, Messi represents globalism whereas the Spanish team represents nationalism. https://x.com/i/status/2079011233374798041
Which dovetails with the Spanish coach (or whoever it was, maybe the PM; anyway it was a big media dust-up) calling out the French team for not having any French players.
I think I have to disagree with the Decoding Symbols guy. I think the Argentinian team represents nationalism. Argentina is one of the very few top tier teams that is not ethnically diverse. And, as a country is currently led by a conservative populist.
The European teams represent globalism. Their rosters are ethnically diverse, practically mirroring the unfettered mass immigration policies of those countries, Spain included. Let’s also not forget President Trump is engaged in public feud with the socialist government of Spain.
Exactly!
Yep there was a theory on x that Messi was being positioned as a messianic returning hero to lay groundwork for him to enter politics to run against milei
Hadn't heard that one! But it's interesting.
