I know it’s just a shadow, but upon first glance I thought Sr. peed his pants.

I agree with you about weather manipulation on the east coast. We went from temperatures in the 60s on Friday to a snowstorm and temperatures in the teens on Saturday and will be back in the 60s again tomorrow. We get wild swings of weather in March, but I don’t remember anything this drastic happening before.

Thank you! I’m working on the lesson right now. I’m not going to give an opinion one way or another, but I’m hoping through the images and videos I show them, and having them analyze what they’re really looking at, that they’ll start to question what’s really going on for themselves.

Thank you! This is how I’m going to approach it. Sometimes I have a hard time slowing down and taking my time. It’s hard when I want them to understand everything right now(!), but going the slow and steady route and getting them to think for themselves is what I really want them to learn.

Excellent idea! I’m still trying to get into the mindset of asking questions to get others to think and see for themselves. Ultimately, that’s what I want the students to be able to do. I get so caught up sometimes in trying to get others to see and I forget the best way is for them to logically think it out for themselves.

I like that! And you’re right—there are lots of examples of propaganda in art I can use. I don’t think I’d get in trouble for mentioning Ukraine and Russia, but my end goal is to teach them to not take everything at face value, and there’s lots of other times in history I can use.

Thank you all for your comments! I’m starting to form some ideas in my head. First thing I realize I need to do is take a deep breath and step back. I’m going to go the asking questions to get them thinking route, because what I’m really trying to teach them is to think for themselves and to research to find out if what they’re being told is true. The school emphasizes critical thinking skills and it’s just frustrating to see the administration doesn’t realize they’re not thinking critically about what’s going on now. I can get riled up about things like this, so thank you for helping me see a better route to go!

I’ve been thinking this same thing today. I’m glad my mom sees what’s really going on, but it would be nice to have a friend to talk about it with. All I heard today was how mean Russia is and the poor Ukrainians who were attacked for no good reason. 🙄

Me too! Both sets of my grandparents were kicked out of the Amish. Sadly, a lot of the Mennonites around here have gone super liberal🙄

It’s a private Christian school. Cursive is taught in 3rd grade and it’s required to use until 6th grade. My son hates penmanship, but I’ve told him he may be one of the few left when he’s an adult that can still read the documents of the Founding Fathers, among other things.

Yep! He goes to a private Christian school. I’m wondering what his teacher thought about his answer. She’s new this year, so I don’t really know her too well yet. I have a feeling she may have had to look up what “deep state” meant.

It’s real. My kids go to a private Christian school. They teach cursive in 3rd grade and have to write in cursive until 6th grade. After that, they can choose to print if they want.

I’m curious as to what his teacher thought, too! It’s crazy-I was reviewing stuff in his history book for a quiz this evening and it was about the same stuff going on right now. The slave-loving Democrats trying to cheat to get their way and the state’s rights stuff—that’s what really fires me up!

Thank you! I work hard at educating them. It’s sad how much more my 10 year old knows about what’s really going on in the world than the average normie adult does.

Aw, thanks! He’s all about ice cream!

Ok, what I typed out from my thoughts did not translate well into print. Just to clarify, when I talk about us being the sheep and Jesus the shepherd, I’m pointing out to them why we need Jesus to lead us because we are lost without Him. My tongue-in-cheek humor fell flat on here, but trust me, I’d be fired if I did not present the Bible or Christ’s teaching in a truthful manner.

Exactly! I teach art at a Christian school and as I’m going over the attributes of wool for needle felting, I always mention how Jesus calling us sheep wasn’t a compliment. Sheep are dumb, dirty, and need a shepherd to look after them because they’d never make it on their own.

I have a friend who’s a nurse and had a horrible reaction after getting her booster. As she’s telling me about the swelling, rashes, cold sores in and outside her mouth, and really thinking and feeling like she was going to die, I asked her (trying to get her to think critically because she thinks I don’t know what I’m talking about) if it was possible she just wrecked her immune system. Her response was that the reaction to the booster was her body’s immune system getting STRONGER. 🙄 There’s no reasoning with those completely sold into the narrative.

When her campaign signs started popping up in people’s yards, I had the same reaction to the three red bars. I hadn’t heard of her yet, and had wondered if there were more lefties than I realized in my area because when I saw those bars, I assumed she was a commie. When I learned she was the Republican candidate, those bars always bothered me. Didn’t seem right. I do hope we’re wrong, but we’ve been screwed over so many times it’s no wonder we’re skeptical.

Amanda Chase would have been an excellent candidate, but the GOP pulled a fast one with primary voting so they could get Youngkin in instead of her. She was giving them a run for their money-she was MAGA, outspoken, and popular. I wasn’t thrilled with Youngkin, and contemplated not voting, but the thought of having McAwful in there again was too horrible to imagine.
