Good for Sidney! She's been fighting this long enough, Glad to see her pull the victory out!

I'll side with DragonBallz here. Israel can hardly afford to strike at this point, at least without getting struck first. I lean toward Bibi either being controlled opposition or a white hat, but which side he falls out on is yet to be seen. So far, we're four hours in....

If you would like to post this over @ c/Catholic, feel free to link it in a comment if it isn't there.

Though I'm not Catholic, I have much respect for Father Frank Pavone.

This may be true of the Ultra-Orthodox, but not even they are completely united on that. Most see Christianity as a Noahide off shoot of Judaism.

That depends - There are varying views, even among the Ultra-Orthodox

FYI I mentioned this among other issues on another thread:

See my comment, below. Open Doors, which I have linked in my comment, makes a verifiable claim that Communists and Islamic states are the worst persecutors of Christians, with Hindus following a distant third. Check the links below. If you're not a fan of Open Doors, Voice Of The Martyrs is likely to have similar stats.

You're welcome. for some reason, probably a mistake on my part, I couldn't downvote....usually if I do downvote, I'll at least give my reason for doing so.

IMHO, and much of it comes from disregarding the Hebrew roots of the Christian faith, seeing the Older Testament as inferior to the New Testament. I could go full rant on how the Antique Testament was fulfilled, not nullified through Jesus, and how the Law is both a restraint and a reflection of God's moral standard, but that would likely break the 12000 character limit and go beyond.

Here is a decent article on the topic from Bible Project:

https://bibleproject.com/articles/what-jesus-meant-turn-other-cheek-matthew-539/

and one thorough one from Our Daily Bread:

If Mods would be OK with this, this could also be posted to c/Catholic and c/Christianity, or at least linked to those forums.

True, but one could say that of other people groups as well. The scum tends to rise to the top regardless of the nation or people group, you can just look to the latest American regime under Biden / Harris to see what it could be like in America without some real checks and balances. Here's evidence, if you like.

  1. Between Islam and Communists, we have gained the greatest number of martyrs. Judaism isn't even close.

https://www.opendoorsus.org/en-US/stories/10-most-dangerous-places-Christians/

Israel doesn't even show up in the top fifty:

https://www.opendoorsus.org/en-US/persecution/countries/

  1. There is a movement within Judaism, (and this is NOT even counting the Messianic Jews, who now number over two million, just in the US, and regard Jesus as both their Messiah and God's son) to 'reclaim' Jesus, and some will go further and say we are at least willing to look at the possibility of His being the Messiah.

There is a movement within traditional Judaism that is willing to call Jesus a sage, but they stop short of calling Him a prophet:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/thepassion/articles/jesus_the_jew.shtml

If you really want some fun, Rabbi Pinchas Lapidae will give you some with his book, The Resurrection of Jesus, A Jewish Perspective He believes the God of Israel caused Jesus to rise from the dead, but Jesus can't be called Messiah until He fulfills more of the Messianic prophecies -- And yes, the Rabbinical school never kicked him out for this.
