The new rules put in play by the Democratic party state that once the candidate is chosen by the convention and then subsequently withdraws then a small committee will step in and choose the democratic candidate without a vote. This is why (this week) they tried to select Joe via an early zoom-vote ahead of the convention so they can speed up this process due to Biden's advancing decline.

I onced worked for a man very similar in nature to Biden. Quick trigger. Extreme bursts of anger and belittled those trying to help him.
I recall one famous incident, we had 8 people in a meeting and something triggered him and he just lost it and started berating one particular guy who's wife was also in the meeting. This went on for about 10 minutes. Then the wife got up, walked over to him and asked him to stand up and face her. He did. She then said now talk to me like that. He did. She kicked him in the balls. He bent over and she tomahawked him in the back of the neck and knocked him out.
We all clapped and left the room with him laying on the floor. It was a great day. Nobody was fired.
