I remember going to get the polio sugar cubes in the early 60s. Curing polio was a national celebration. My parents did not know anything about the monkey kidney used to created the vaccine. On top of that, I remember the city spraying for mosquitoes, when my parents had to cover the car with a sheet so the paint would not be damaged. Early 60s, so the spray may have been DDT or malathion. An odor you don’t forget and probably still trapped in my fat cells!
