It was dead on arrival in the House. 1. It was fake charge. 2. What kind of a trial does not allow a accused NOT to be present to, well, defend himself.

But trump does a fight on that stance being they added in the first couple lines of the impeachment about the jan6th riot being started by Trump's claims of election fraud so we shall see what way this goes! We don't strictly need it to proceed, but it would certainly simplify things.
I believe in order for the Senate to actually to remove a president or keep them from holding further office would require 67 Senators - 2/3 majority. Handcuffing Trump and making a public statement is what they want. But, the Dems and RINOs don't have the votes. That is why Paul can say dead on arrival. More DC theatrics since the cannot do any real work.
