I asked my youngest (active duty, USAF) about it just yesterday. His response was: "Well, two of my best men passed on re-enlisting because of it, so I'M not impressed.". We both figure it will keep a lot of good young folk from enlisting as well.
The entire social justice movement is a demoralization program designed to weaken America. No longer are you supposed to be proud of America. So, yeah, thats a bad idea. The sooner people realize this is all a psyop, the better. Delusional people definitely do not belong in the military, but think how easy it would be for a crazy leftist doctor to convince a tranny his/her peers are against them. Perhaps they should act on it? Kinda like all the kids on meds shooting schools up. Meds, psychoanalysis, hypnosis, etc...to destroy.. I can see it....get the guns...then bye bye America. Actually they do have special requirements. As you are likely aware, the military isn't some 9 to 5 job. There are requirements to shower and bunk together, especially in the enlisted ranks.
If the trannies want to shower with the biological women, that's a problem with the women. If they want to shower/bunk with the men, it is also a problem as many of them are convinced they are women.
Are the various branches now required to construct yet another set of facilities to house these trannies?
I watched the debacles that happened when women went into the armed forces in combat positions. I imagine this will be at least that disruptive.

I think transgenders should have the chance to be considered for the military. It's not like a milllion trannys are going to go sign up for the military. Here's the thing, every potential candidate for the military has to go through a battery of physical and mental health tests and a background check. If they pass all that then they also have to sign a contract with the military to uphold the duties of a soldier no matter what and if those duties such as deployment or war interfere with a transgender's tranistioning or healthcare needs they will most likely not proceed. We shouldn't be threatened by this at all. If the few transgenders that do make it through and want to be in the military after all of that then they deserve to be there in my opinion.
It’s terrible. Transgenderism is a mental disorder. Science is very clear male and female is decided by genes. Do they need to be shown love, absolutely. But the pros do not outweigh the cons when it comes to mission readiness. That is the mission of the military. On top of that taxpayers will be paying for anyone who want a surgery or hormone regimen. So regardless of the social aspect of it all, it is a lot of stuff to do just for one person. If you had a unit of like people just for them maybe. But even then you are playing favorites and no one likes that.
Excellent points made here thank you. It's not all about one person, we have to consider the effects of one's lifestyle choices when it comes to living and working in groups like the military. I dont want to pay for people's ttansgender care or abortions. There is a disconnect between reality and truth and transgenders have to deal with this disconnect wihtout stepping on the rights of others. Yes we need to always come at this topic with love and understanding. I survived childhood gender dysphoria without taking synthetic homtones or surgeries and Im so glad I didnt do those things to my body. It is possible!
Praise God truly for you not doing that to yourself. There is so much beauty in being who we are individually. We are all unique and when you get to know someone for who they are it’s ok that we are different. I have never personally lived through that and I can’t imagine but I do know that everyone just wants to be loved and we don’t find that love through society. It’s found in the people we surround ourselves with! I pray that more people come to your same conclusions about this topic because it breaks my heart to think if someone went through with a transition only to regret it and not being able to turn back.
My wife has her Master's in psychology, and I asked her, "How is a guy that thinks he's a woman any different from a schizophrenic that thinks they're Jesus or a lizard person?" She didn't have an answer for me.
Gender Identity Disorder used to be in the DSM 4, basically a dictionary of mental disorders. I know this because my undergrad degree is psychology... I haven’t checked, but it’s probably not classified as a disorder anymore, the DSM 5. I’m guessing that based on how normal it was becoming (ie being forced fed to the masses), before transgender became the thing with the wheaties dude switch.
I think they call gender identity disorder - gender dysphoria now? I’ve seen a few new terms hit the scene in the recent years to justify and normalize the behavior. Point is - transgenderism is not going to be related to a mental disorder... they started paving the way years ago.
But transgender is different still. It used to mean the physical alterations/surgery a person goes through to transform into a different sex (sex change). Seems like you can just choose to be whatever gender you want to be any given day now.

Do they have special requirements above those of any other service member?
Will it hinder, in any way, their ability to perform their duties?

if transgenders go into the military with the understanding that the military is not going to give them any special treatment then go for it.
Been out a long time but I'm still pissed they took away the Rangers' black berets and gave them to the regular army.
