And all civilized countries on the planet have for decades implemented successfully a socialist single payer healthcare system, by far the most efficient means to implement healthcare, including Canada, Finland, Japan, Denmark, The Netherlands, France, Iceland, Spain, Singapore, New Zealand, Germany, Australia, Italy, Sweden, Portugal and Norway.

Not only is it not efficient, it’s worse in every single way.

Outcomes are worse. Waiting times are longer. And people in those countries pay outrageous tax rates. It’s not “free” when the government takes money out of every paycheck, whether you need it or not.

The medicine they do have is mostly created in America, and these programs couldn’t survive without American aid.

Also we defend those countries- they pay for no national defense - if Americans want better healthcare they should influence their representatives to adopt isolationist policies. Once the USA stops playing world police we can start talking healthcare. Just my 2 cents

Exactly, for example we have a ridiculous number of military installations worldwide and need to take a hard look at consolidating and closing some of them.

A small base next to a hostile foreign country is begging to be attacked. Makes me wonder if that's the whole point, to get us entangled in more foreign wars.

Socialism is not essential for any country, but it seems to inevitably creep into society predicated on the misbelief that it is necessary. There's a reason people from all those socialist countries you listed used to come to America to get the best surgery/care. There's also a reason why those "utopian" socialist countries can afford "free" healthcare. These countries rely on the US for all military protection and have gotten away with not paying us a thing for that security. Notice you didn't mention any shitty socialist countries like Venezuela. And on that note, why do European (and Japan) socialist countries work (as long as they spend nothing on defense), but not Latin America? Here's a clue: it has to do the crime rates (something directly linked to IQ).

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 4 ▼
– Burto_87 4 points 5 years ago +4 / -0

JP would disagree. IQ has nothing to do with aggressive behaviour. There is literally there is no correlation. Even if it were correlation does not equate causation. Just saying like everything in life, things are way more complex than you imagine. It is like saying, women make less money than men, and is something directly related to IQ. That is nonsense. The nuances for why there is a "gap" at all are too many to quantify. Some more impactful than IQ I assure you. Everything else I agree with you.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 3 ▼
– pearlrevolver 3 points 5 years ago +3 / -0

Women do make less then men, but that doesn't have much to do with IQ since men and women have on average the same IQ. Women tend to not be as assertive and as a result don't ask for raises as often. Plus, women take more time off to raise a family. But back to IQ and criminality.

One's IQ is connected to race, ethnicity and environment. When one is developing as an infant and child: abuse, lack of nutrition, neglect, or damage to the brain can negatively impact IQ. Being breastfed and not being abused adds to a child's IQ (can positively impact IQ by one standard deviation), but the bottom line is one's IQ is limited by genetics. For example, the height of someone who ate healthy and got plenty of exercise as a child, is still limited by their genetics. Why wouldn't this also apply to mental aptitude? One can argue that crime is linked to poverty and not IQ, except in places like West Virginia where the population is white and extremely poor, the crime is relatively low. If you don't think IQ and aggression are linked, you should consider visiting a prison sometime.

I'm not saying every low IQ individual is prone to crime or that there aren't smart people from all races and ethnicities. These are averages. There is a bell curve as JP has explained in the past. Interesting topic one could go on and on about. I recommend looking up the IQ of different countries then compare them to their crime rate. I understand that many of these low IQ-high crime rate countries don't have access to the best food/use violence to discipline children which negatively impacts their IQ. Plus, many of the smartest people migrate to nicer countries which lowers the averages.

IQ has nothing to do with aggressive behaviour.

Unfortunately for those who wish to deny IQ (sometimes known as ‘G’ for general intelligence) is real, the data and the science continue to pile up against such beliefs. In fact, studies repeatedly confirm the reality of IQ and the connections between a variety of both positive and negative life outcomes and intelligence. Not only do studies of the general population support the reality of IQ, but even studies specifically conducted inside prison systems confirm those claims.

For example, studies consistently reflect the fact that chronic or repeat criminal offenders have a lower average IQ than non-offenders. This is true among both juvenile repeat offenders (who average about 92) and adult repeat offenders (who average about 85). IQ tests are normed for a populace to 100. Every few years the tests are re-normed due to IQ drift, which tends to be upwards (commonly referred to as the ‘Flynn effect’). The 15 point difference between the norm for the general population and that of chronic offending adults is known as 1 standard deviation.

More evidence comes from a study conducted in the Texas prison system which found that more than 20% of criminal offenders had an IQ below 80. IQ’s at such a level begin to seriously impede a person’s chances at life success and it is thought that a life of crime then becomes an alternative (dangerous and risky) path for such persons. Additionally, those who have IQ scores around 80 and below have significant problems in balancing short-term vs long-term desires. This is sometimes referred to as the ability to delay gratification and is related to time-preference (‘I want what I want and I want it now by any means necessary’ vs ‘I want X but will work slowly, methodically, and legally or morally to attain it’).

This is not, however, to say that those of moderate to high IQ do not commit crimes. The presumption here is that those of higher IQ tend to commit crimes which they are able to conceal or are harder to detect for a host of reasons. Still yet, chronic offenders do tend to be involved in far more physical crimes: burglary, assault and battery, car-jacking, drunk-driving accidents, homicides, and the like. Much of this is supported in the study linked below:

The problem is that the true definition of communism is not commonly understood. It is synonymous with wealth redistribution amoung the uneducated libs and leftist.

This act is to counter CCPS policies of abortion and sterilization.

How about they do this when it actually could get passed? GOP is in trouble and now they are pandering, but they are done. I don't care what they try to get passed. It means nothing as long as we don't have a majority. Same old crap.

"Oh look at us. We're so good. We are trying to fight against this."

YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS WHEN WE HAD THE HOUSE, THE SENATE, AND THE PRESIDENCY.

Grrrrr I can't stand being pandered to.

it's just the cycle they go through. dems or republicans, doesn't matter -- when you get in the minority, you propose all this these things you know won't pass, so that you look like you're taking a brave stand for your side's core values. then people vote you into the majoriy where you can then begin sitting on your ass and doling out other excuses for why you didn't circle back to all that stuff you fought for, meanwhile the opposing party which is now in the minority starts putting up all THEIR heroic convictions bills that they know won't pass, so that they can then have their turn as the stagnant majority, and on and on and on

i do think Rand is a Patriot, but understand people's concerns. can't speak to some of his actions but hopefully they're inline with our desired outcome. i say we have much bigger fish to fry before busting on Rand. we need 95%+ of all of DC drained. any patriot there that even slightly helps the white hat agenda should be used as an asset where possible

I disagree. Turning on our own side that betrayed us and the Constitution is the highest priority.

We expect the other side to fuck us. We don't have that same expectation of our own people.

Traitors deserve the worst response.

Remove the traitors from office and figure the rest out later. Don't need to be backstabbed so many times just because we conveniently forget all their bad when they do something "right"
