Brothers. This is America. The land of the free and plenty for the hard worker. Some people prefer the beer and some the bible. Some, like me prefer a little beer on a holiday weekend and a lot of bible. We can make both happen if we're motivated enough.

I agree. Alcohol is a poisonous, addictive, lethal substance. Still, free adults in a free society should be free to choose what to put inside their own bodies, which they themselves exclusively own and government has no legitimate right to control.
Freedom of choice is a responsibility some people can't handle. I was talking to a friend recently who has been struggling to quit watching porn because it's been affecting his relationship. He asked me of I had any advice and I told him yes, don't watch porn. He got kinda annoyed but then I explained to him that he was looking for some easy sollution, a way to reach the destination without the journey.
I told him that all the tips and tricks in the world won't change the fact that at the end of the day he will need to exercise control over his freedom of choice. He can choose to watch porn or he can choose not to, so be smart and choose not to because his real relationship is more valuable than pixels on a screen.
This is a concept that is becoming increasingly lost on society. People want to be able to indulge in whatever impulse they want while also being insulated and shielded from any consequences that may come from their actions. If I were a right-wing conspiracy theorist I'd say it's almost like this was planned to keep people dumb and distracted and to chip away at the cohesiveness and foundations of society, but bah, that's crazy talk lol.

True. That doesn't mean the rest of us should be deprived of our freedom of choice; as you suggest, it means everyone needs to exercise control over their freedom of choice.
Not seeing the difficulty some are having with this concept, because commonsense.
It's a similar idea to the one Mark Twain spoke about in his quote about censorship:
"Censorship is telling a man he can't have a steak because a baby can't chew it."
The more you try to insulate people from the consequences of their decisions and actions the more the society they live in becomes less and less free. It's a subtle slide into authoritarian rule under the guise of some greater good.
